Ever Wake Up In A Funk?

Posted on August 23, 2017 at 9:10 AM

Seems I need my pride kicked around a bit. I ‘even I’ (LOL) fall prey to evil temptations. Today I awoke with a gloomy cloud over my head; no amount of shaking seemed to loosen it~ until I sat down in my quiet time with my precious Lord. He reminded me that it is my right to evict that evil little demon from my mind and from my home. It had no right here! So I spoke words of eviction out loud in Jesus Name. Then I lifted my hands in praise and worship which was the final boot that kicked the enemy and its evil work away. . .

Holy Lord! Blessed Lord! You are almighty and it’s You I invite into my heart, into my day! Holy Spirit please help me to rise up out of this funk that’s been trying to drag me under this morning. Your light pierces the darkness bringing truth to my soul. . .

The first Scripture He gave me was~

Isaiah 43:25 (AMP)

“I, only I, am He who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake,

And I will not remember your sins.

I know my God has forgiven me and remembers my sin no more. Then a Scripture lit up my thoughts. Jesus often told people He healed, “Your sins are forgiven. Go and sin no more’” Then He healed their mental/physical maladies. So what is Jesus saying to me here? My neglecting to come to Him immediately with the dark cloud of temptation- was it a failure on my part? Was it just tiredness from lack of sufficient sleep? (an excuse).

So what do I do next time I wake up in a hazy mist of confusion? First: Remember confusion is a weapon of the enemy. I fight the enemy as Jesus did with the Word of God; He reminded me first and foremost how very much God loves me. . .

Isaiah 43:1-5

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you [from captivity];

I have called you by name; you are Mine!

2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.

When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched,

Nor will the flame burn you.

3 “For I am the Lord your God,

The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

I have given Egypt [to the Babylonians] as your ransom,

Cush (ancient Ethiopia) and Seba [its province] in exchange for you.

4 “Because you are precious in My sight,

You are honored and I love you,

I will give other men in return for you and other peoples in exchange for your life.

                                                                                        5 “Do not fear, for I am with you;

When the Almighty One claims you as His very own, and He calls you by name (listen and you will hear Him call you by name), what an amazing gift!! Then if you are going through a trial (for me it was a cancer diagnosis), and He promises you:

  “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.

When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched,

Nor will the flame burn you.

Wow! It doesn’t get any better than that! No matter how fiery the trial, how scary, focus on His promises not the enemy “what if’s”. Then you will have peace and calm. Your trust in Him will bring tremendous rewards!! If you like, check out ‘My Journey’ in Cast Up A Highway.

My friends, I know I’m not the only one who gets suckered into the enemy trap of depressive or negative thoughts. Its how fast we leave them behind that matters. At the first sign of the enemy attack, raise up your shield of faith, seek His Word, and you’re well on the way to a victory. Recall Zacchaeus up in the tree? Jesus called him down to dine with Him. Zacchaeus climbed right down and was blessed!

Jesus invites us to dine with Him:

Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

                                        AWESOME GOD

Sometimes the terrible awesomeness of God hits me and sends me reeling into deep meditation. It always carries its reward of a new closeness with my God. It happened this morning. In the beginning I was distracted with my mind wandering here and yon. Then I ‘woke up’ and commanded it to return. God is so good! Holy Spirit began to lead me in prayer.

Sorry, my Lord. I come to our meeting this morning with scattered thoughts; help me, Lord, to rein them in. That You even desire to meet with me is so amazing! Deep breath. Moses asked God, “what shall I say when they ask 'Who sent me’?” You responded, “Say the Great I AM sent me.” You, God, are not hemmed in by time. For You there is no ‘was, will be’, there is only I AM. Before You I bow down my heart, my 'who I am' I submit to You; help me become who You created me to be.

Exodus 3:13-14 (AMP)

13 And Moses said to God, Behold, when I come to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, What is His name? What shall I say to them? 14 And God said to Moses, I Am Who I Am and What I Am, and I Will Be What I Will Be; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I Am has sent me to you!

  • Footnotes: Exodus 3:15 To know the name of God is to witness the manifestation of those attributes and apprehend that character which the name denotes.

Can you feel the depth of that name? 'I AM' signifies so much ~ timelessness, absolute love, supreme power, unimaginable expansion ~ an incomprehensible being, totally surrounding. There simply are not words to express the grandness of Who our God is. HIS LOVE FOR US  S SO APPARENT IN HIS WORD!

Psalm 91:14 (AMP)

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].

Isaiah 52:6 (AMP)

Therefore My people shall know what My name is and what it means; therefore they shall know in that day that I am He who speaks; behold, I Am!

Indeed my God! You are the great I AM! This measures so deep and so high and so wide. You revealed Your staggering magnificence to David, and it comes out here:

Psalm 139:1-10

O Lord, you have examined my heart

and know everything about me.

2 You know when I sit down or stand up.

You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.

Even when it’s my mind traveling on tangents.

3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home.

You know everything I do.

4 You know what I am going to say

even before I say it, Lord.

5 You go before me and follow me.

You place your hand of blessing on my head.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

too great for me to understand!

7 I can never escape from your Spirit!

I can never get away from your presence!

8 If I go up to heaven, you are there;

if I go down to the grave, you are there.

9 If I ride the wings of the morning,

if I dwell by the farthest oceans,

10 even there your hand will guide me,

and your strength will support me.

You are always with me.

You will guide me.

You will always be my support. Your strength

upholds me, protects me, supports me.

Lord, You are so good! What a privilege to know You! Thank You that You continue to grow me closer to You. Thank You! I love being together with You, my Lord.
