Misty Mountains II

The mist is getting darker~ I believe night has come. Thank You Holy Spirit for cave shelter. I just noticed the rocks themselves seem to emanate warmth. I am in Your care Holy Spirit and You bring me warmth and a place to spend the night. Despite the darkness outside the cave, I am feeling wrapped in a soft blanket of security and love. You are always so good to me, Lord!

With the morning brightness, ...

Vanity! Vanity!

One particular Scripture has recently touched my heart, because as I began to see the signs of aging on my body, my confidence began to go down. “Does anybody listen to those who have grown older?” I questioned. “Am I still of any use to God?” I asked. It’s easy to spot the reactions of people I know and don’t know, especially the youth. A depression bega...

Have you ever found you go to bed at night and all is well, then you wake up in the morning with a dark cloud over your head? Where did that come from? Of course, one can wake up to a sunshiny spirit as well. How much does “wake up mode” affect your day? I found a few of my wake up mornings in my journal~

1. Holy Spirit I thank You for Your help this morning; i awoke in a struggling frame of mind. I do...

Silent Cries

I read an article about abused animals and people crying out to stop the killing of baby seals or whales, or. . . people are up in arms for animals. Articles on interspecies communication, sharing love with animals. I love animals and value their life too. BUT are the advocates crying also for the abused human babies?

I remember cuddling my first grandchild; newly born warm and so dear to my heart. What joy f...

Fire of Ire!

The other day I had a run-in with a man who treated me very condescendingly. I cannot even tell you the feelings that conjured up. Anger yes. Hurt yes. Embarrassment yes. My response was controlled anger, but my insides were seething. How dare he. . . I did send an email to my bosses about the situation letting them know my feelings on the matter. After work, as the situation replayed itself in my mind again, I realize...

Different Kind of Playground

As kids we had a great playground~ climbing all over the houses under construction in our neighborhood. We played tag on rafters, sat in attic tilts balancing our feet on pieces of wood stretched between the two-by-fours. One time my little piece of wood slipped and since all my weight was on it, down i flew. Thankfully it was only about 8 feet; my friend who was just en...

Stand in the Gap!

Explosive power is sometimes contained in small packages like a hand grenade, and at other times in larger containers like a bomb. These two examples are usually found in wartime. However, “peace time” also is laden with powerful weapons called “words”. In the last post I spoke of how they can be used for good or for evil. They contain the capacity to destroy p...

Containers of Explosive Power

The phosphorous grenade exploded just as he was about to let go of it. The destruction was horrifying. The soldier lost his ear, his eye, flesh from his face and body. Yet by sheer will and the support of a loving wife, he survived to begin a retreat for wounded warriors.

Each spoken or written word is a grenade of potential power that can be used for building up or...

God's Gift of Pristine White Beauty

Snowshowers slanting down this way, then that, displaying the currents of the wind. Gazing out my window I was mesmerized by their activity as snowflakes seemed to run madly through the air. Later I glanced out again and they were drifting down lazily bringing a smile to my face. It's my favorite way to watch them~ this lazy dance of the snowflakes! Their p...
