Cast Up A Highway

BUILD YOUR OWN PERSONAL HIGHWAY TO GOD!

WHY GOD'S WILL?

After gaining victory in the cancer battle, and resting for a space, it was time for the Lord's next assignment: a book. He sent a mind-capturing Scripture. Isaiah 62:10 began appearing everywhere, but what can you do with a Scripture like that: “Cast up a highway in the desert for my people”? But I was obedient  and phoned an engineer asking , “How do you build up a highway?”. Once the engineer relayed the the information, Scriptures began downloading into my mind filling in the basic design of a God-highway.

  .........................................................

It was establishing a structure of faith to shape a love life. It became a foundational mind picture to check anytime there was a feeling of drifting away, of a break in the connection. The book, Cast Up A Highway, leads one in logical steps to know God and to construct a love relationship with Him, then grow that bond, and maintain it.

 ....................

The book being simple to read and basic in teaching creates a mind picture our youth can put in their suitcase as they go off to college. It's a staple when their faith comes under attack. Young ones can grasp the simple truths in the basics of faith and then be taught a life pattern for retaining it. The book is perfect for new believers who crave a stronger and deeper bond with their God.

Now understand I knew and know the power of this little book, yet the Lord did not let it grow exponentially as I expected. Rather, God set me on a shelf and told me, ‘now you grow’ in preparation for the next trip on the train. So there I sat as a potted plant on a shelf, not as my vision ~ of the mighty cedar trees of Lebanon deeply rooted on the river of life giving love and healing to all those who came by. :)   Pride has a way of being exposed so it can be excised, and God is good at that.

 .....................................................

So, I had to speak to my God, “Ok God, my plans are not always Your plans. I bow down to You and accept Your plan for my life. Not just “accept” with the resentment of no choice, but “accept” with gratitude and trust knowing You love me and always have the very best for me.” It's a good place we all can come to when our plans or expectations don't happen as we hoped they would.

Lesson received in heart: Trust in God always! He loves us exceedingly, cares for us gently, and building one God-step upon another, leads us always to victory in our life battles!

Who Am I?

Posted on August 16, 2017 at 7:10 AM Comments comments (0)

Good morning, my Lord! I am so blessed to call You “my Lord”! Who am I that You should be mindful of me? I am Your servant, Lord; yea, unworthy though I am, You have called me daughter, adopted me into Your family. You are my Father, God, and I love You. You are so good to me! You love me despite my weaknesses and mistakes. Your love is perfect and all encompassing.

David asked a question similar to mine; I suspect Holy Spirit brought it to my mind~

2 Samuel 7:18 The Message

King David went in, took his place before God, and prayed: “Who am I, my Master God, and what is my family, that you have brought me to this place in life? But that’s nothing compared to what’s coming, for you’ve also spoken of my family far into the future, given me a glimpse into tomorrow, my Master God! What can I possibly say in the face of all this? You know me, Master God, just as I am. You’ve done all this not because of who I am but because of who You are—out of Your very heart!—but You’ve let me in on it.

It’s true; it’s nothing I have earned, for how could one such as I earn anything that would impress my God? No, it’s Who You are, my God. Your supreme love nature called forth mankind, people for You to share Your love. You made mankind from the dirt of the earth then You breathed Your very life into us.

The enemy, hoping to spoil Your plan,

crept into the homeland of Adam and deceived him into sinning against You. But it cannot ever win against You, Lord. You had a plan B, Jesus. Your beautiful Son came to earth and in His love sacrificed Himself for us, paying off the sin debt.

Now as we accept Jesus gift, we are freed from all of the enemy’s hold on us. We are able to love You Lord, and dance in Your honor praising and worshipping You! And Your love flows.

I’m remembering when Jesus healed a blind man. He took some dirt of the earth God created, and spit His sacred bodily fluids into the dirt making mud and smeared it onto the blind man’s eyes.

John 9:5-7 (AMP)

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world [giving guidance through My word and works].” 6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made mud with His saliva, and He spread the mud [like an ointment] on the man’s eyes. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went away and washed, and came back seeing.

Jesus is the Light of the World. He used His precious body fluid to make a mud to smear on the blind man’s eyes. As we were formed by God out of the dust of the earth He created, so Jesus did a creative miracle using spit, and the same dust of the earth, to bring Light restoring sight to the blind man. I recall thinking it kind of gross that He made mud with spittle. But as I look at it from this perspective it becomes a beautiful thing. Just a thought.

Rereading 2 Samuel 7:18 the last sentence caught my attention ~

You’ve done all this not because of who I am but because of who You are—out of Your very heart!—but You’ve let me in on it.

God sometimes does let us in on things we know not of by our own power. Has He done this for you? Will you share?

An Answer to Morgan

Posted on April 22, 2016 at 6:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Morgan Freeman is doing a TV series on finding God. I find that amusing that a man who is an atheist is trying to show people how to find God. He is traveling all over the world looking at various religions to see where to find God. Why do I find it amusing?

We know there is a God. Just a study of what we know of this world and His creation is logical proof that things did not just spring into being, or some cataclysmic crash in space could not have brought about all the complex workings of our world and the flora and fauna in it. The human being is the most complex with all the systems in us from the smallest atoms to the largest organs, and how they are designed to work together.

So this leads us to find out who is the Master designer, Creator of all this beautiful complexity? Morgan's script says Quote: "Morgan seeks to discover who God is - and how he, she, or they have evolved over history."

Number one, our God did not evolve. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow~ He is GOD! He is the Alpha and the Omega. I wrote a book that walks through this discovery process that Morgan claims from his atheistic viewpoint to be searching out. My book helps people discover how to actually know and have relationship with the one true God. There is only ONE, you know. Or perhaps you have not yet discovered this, in which case, I invite you to read the book Cast Up A Highway. It is truth spoken simply and it is easy reading.

A few things we know about this one true God is ~ He does not sit in outer space as an uncaring observer. He created us to have a loving relationship with us that goes both ways. He is a Father who loves us all. We do not have to earn His love; He cares for us deeply and demonstrated this by sending His Son Jesus to earth to become a man. As a man He accomplished two things: First, Jesus taught us about our mutual Father God. Secondly, He redeemed us. From what? Sin.

God created us pure and sinless but with a free will. He wants us to love Him willingly not as robots. However, God has an enemy who goes by many names: the devil, satan, lucifer, father of lies, the great deceiver, destroyer, etc. The enemy hates God and all God’s creation, and that includes us. The enemy deceived Adam, first man and his wife Eve, into betraying God. As descendants of Adam and through his blood line we inherit this sin nature and all the the evil developed by their treasonous act.

Its pretty obvious by observing our world today that we have a sin nature. God, being all knowing, knew this would happen, so before He created us He had a plan of redemption for us. That plan was Jesus, and Jesus agreed to the plan, because of His great love for us. Jesus as man and God could pay the required debt for man’s betrayal of God, and the sins that proceeded from it. Jesus is the key. Innocent Jesus was cruelly tortured and murdered by agonizing crucifixion on a cross. He endured all this for us, because He knew it would free us from satanic enslavement. Yes the strangle hold of sin bondage was broken by this innocent man/God’s punishment. You see, it was actually punishment that we deserved for our sins, but Jesus paid the sin debt for us.

So when we accept Jesus tremendous gift, we are freed from the devil’s tyranny in our lives. When we ask Jesus to be Lord of our lives, we are made new, as reborn to God’s nature. So our inclination is to love and be obedient to God’s laws, which were created in perfect justice and mercy, and are not to restrict us from fun, but to become the best, happiest people we are designed to be. God knows us completely. Since He loves us, He wants us to be full of joy (which is more complete than a temporal happiness). It is the reason He has laws in place~ so we can fulfill the potential He originally designed in us.

God is love. All the goodness and true love that we see in the world~ as a perfect example: Mother Theresa's love for the extreme poor~ all this love actually pours out of God into us to flow through us to others.

Stay tuned for more of the True God

Mom's the Heart

Posted on May 8, 2015 at 7:30 AM Comments comments (0)

God knew what He was doing when He put a Mom and a Dad as directors of a family. Father is the head and Mom is the heart. I can see that played out so well in our household. My parents loved each other and worked as a team in raising us kids.

I remember the suppers we shared together each evening. Mom cooked great meals every day and we sat down at the table each night as a family. Conversations varied, but we sat around that table, together. I believe there is binding power when gathered around a table, and Mom instinctively knew that.

Mom did the gardening and beautiful flowers decorated the outside of our house. I remember marigolds down beside the driveway. In the Fall she would harvest the seeds for more gold and orange to cheerily greet us the next year. She cared about the interior of our home too, and always kept it neat and clean. Yes, we were the helpers as she trained us how to clean and keep house.

When we were small, I remember that each day before Dad got home, Mom would change out of her work dress and put on a fresh dress to greet Dad after work. I remember her perfume when Dad would take her out, and most of all, I recall her polished nails. Part of her ritual of preparation for a date was to do her nails. Sometimes they were still wet, so we would kiss goodbye being very careful not to mess her shiny nails.

Mom always had a love and respect for God. As kids she would take us to early mass and communion during Lent in preparation for Easter. Imagine getting 4 kids ready early in the morning to go to church each day; and we walked to church, as she did not drive in those days.

She also herded the 4 of us on a bus to “make the steps” on Good Friday. That was a ritual where a place in town had many steps going up a hill to a cathedral. We would say a Hail Mary on each step and an Our Father on each landing. I remember the steps going on forever and days as being really cold. At the top we looked forward to having hot cross buns and hot drinks served at the church.

Mom grew in her relationship with her Lord. She believed in giving and had a heart for the children. At one time she taught religion classes to kids in the projects. She loved those kids and worked to help them learn good principles of life. Later she worked in a nursing home helping the patients work with clay and pottery. I recall she also took painting classes and did well. At one time she joined the lay division of the Order of St Francis. Clearly I'm now aware that Mom was ever seeking to deepen her relationship with God. Even at the end with Alzheimer's, her hunger for God was evident.

I am so thankful and blessed that God put an extraordinary woman as my Mom in my life. I’m sure that much of who I am today came from her influence. Can you see the influence of your mom in your life too?

Containers of Explosive Power

The phosphorous grenade exploded just as he was about to let go of it. The destruction was horrifying. The soldier lost his ear, his eye, flesh from his face and body. Yet by sheer will and the support of a loving wife, he survived to begin a retreat for wounded warriors.

Each spoken or written word is a grenade of potential power that can be used for building up or for destruction. This potential can be used for or against self or others. When one sees a grenade, they're aware of the forcefulness of its capability. Now I say, examine each word before it leaves your mouth for its direction and influence. In war sometimes explosive devices can maim and murder defenseless children. It happens. Words can maim and destroy a child as well, perhaps not physically, but emotionally. Just as deadly.

Words also contain power to heal and to enlarge. The grenade explosion of goodness and healing goes off in the heart. Speak words to all of love and endearment. Let the flow from your mouth be light, a gift. Lift up. Let your words be containers of smiles and joy.

God’s Word is nuclear in power with the ability to entirely change the nature of a person. Have you consumed His Word yet? He says,

Isaiah 55:11 NKJV

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;

It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please,

And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Hebrews 4:12 AMP

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

Since words from our mouths are like electrical energy ready to flash out, what about the Word from God’s mouth? Its potential is mighty to create magnificent outcomes when we speak it in faith. It’s sometimes called “prayer”.

My friends, have you recognized the incredible power of words? When have you experienced their positive or negative affect?

Campfire God

As evening arrives, excitement brews. Night's awaited darkness brings promise of unusual fun times~

Long twigs holding sticky sweetness are thrust into the dancing flames of the campfire. The ancient brownie tradition, s'mores, is enjoyed by another generation. How fun to watch the young eyes sparkling in anticipation of the gooey dessert, as the thrill of fire in the darkness, and challenge of keeping their treat from turning into a blackened mess excites their young hearts.

As the excitement gradually dies down, the atmosphere around the campfire turns mellow. There is a special kind of rest that settles into hearts in the quietness of the night as the crackles of the flames consume the remaining wood. God’s Presence can be felt in the silent satisfaction of love that’s been shared. It’s a beautiful finish for a lovely day spent with family.

These are special times that will long remain in the photo album of the minds of kids and adults alike, and the memories will be accompanied by the wonderful emotions of the enjoyment of laughter, smokey fun, and love shared times.

Father God, it’s the same with You and spending time in Your presence. The gentle quietness and peace of being with You is like no other. It’s feeling Your protection like an ever present shield; it’s watching my spirit spread out and soak in Your love; it’s knowing rest like no other.

Evil Came Calling

Posted on July 21, 2014 at 2:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Suffocated by noxious fumes, terrified by gunshots, the crowd, once excited to watch a new Batman movie, wanted nothing more than escape.

Evil came calling in that theater after midnight. Stealing lives, crushing hopes, bringing an onslaught of pain and suffering to victims, families, workers, and a city. To us evil is no stranger. He came at Columbine and Chucky Cheese. And this dark night’s deed brings not just its own hurt, but awakens hurtful memories from other nightmares.

Know I am not the only one who’s heart is crying out to stop this enemy onslaught! Tears brim my eyes as I watch the grieving families who speak of their loved ones. An ache rises up in my chest for the Moms and Dads and brothers and sisters who have lost a dear one. My heart hurts when watching a tough policeman almost break down on an interview as he speaks of what he and his men have seen and gone through. Helpless to bring youth back to life as they rushed to help wherever it was possible. The bloody carnage will return in nightmares and linger in minds for a long time.

Evil came calling in the dark of night. How appropriate! Evil cannot stand the light, flees from the light. That is the truth! So how do we keep evil from returning? WE carry in the light. Who is the Light? You know! Jesus is the light!

Open the doors of darkness in our schools and allow the light of truth to enter in. Return honor to God and the ten commandments to revive the light in our students. Give them a place to go with their pain ~ a Person to go to ~ One Who is capable like no other! Jesus loves like no other. He is the answer to many who feel hopeless. He is the dream restorer. Let us teach our children Who loves them more than any other, Who has the answers they seek. Build an inner highway to our God, a relationship to sustain and strengthen like nothing else is able to do.

O God almighty! I believe this tragedy is one of the warnings You are giving us. You are calling us to return to You, so You can bring our nation to salvation. Yes, eternal salvation and also earthly salvation ~ return us from a fleshly nation of selfishness to a nation of integrity and honor. I fear for us.

This is a call to all the sleepers whose only concern is “me, my family, and my possessions”. Open eyes to see the truly suffering; see the sneaky machinations of the enemy’s attempts to lead this country to destruction with immorality running rampant pulling our youth into the slime, debt overwhelming us, our kids and even grandkids, which also is downgrading us in the eyes of the world.

Evil hates freedom. But we are allowing freedom of religion to be gradually pushed out and eliminated; the second amendment is being threatened and no one even knows it. Our very constitution that formed this great nation is being attacked, and like the slow cooking frog, we are lazily unaware of the threat.

Wake us Lord!!

God of Eons

Almighty God, as You knew the Gunnison river would dig a mighty canyon over eons, and the designs of the walls of the canyon would be a splendor to behold, just so, You have a design and a plan for each of your children's lives. Sometimes we have difficult challenges and painful times to go through, but You are right there to guide us. After many years we too develop grandeur and beauty in who we become as Your plan is carried out in us.

Paul’s attitude towards trials is seen in the book of 2 Corinthians. He repeatedly asked You to remove a thorn in the flesh, but when You answered him that

"But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!" 2 Corinthians 12:9

he changed his mind and chose to glory in weaknesses and infirmities, which allowed Christ power and strength to enter into his soul. Thus his work was done under the mastery of Jesus not under his human capability.

This is a lesson for me, Father. I thought it was for another, but it was for me too. I am not glorying in my aging joints of pain and sore muscles from yesterday’s horseback riding adventure.

It was embarrassing to need help mounting and dismounting a very tall horse as my legs had lost some flexibility over the years.

But I rode on a horse called Cinnamon and loved the comraderie of joining the grandkids on a great adventure. Perhaps watching me require help, and suffering pains from the choice, will become a strength in their memories.

You Lord work Your plans not over minutes or days or months or years, but over eons. My life may help people long after I leave this earth. Lord, I choose to follow You in obedience, that Your power and plans shall be carried out through my life always.

Souls cry for Beauty

I look at my nails all glittery and pretty. My hands are still hands of age not youth. Yet my fingertips glow with sparkles; may they give You the glory Lord!

May my life glow and sparkle with Your love so people will want to see You as they want to see my shiny fingernails. Let it be so.

As I press into You, I want to know You more and more. It's the true beauty. I open my heart, my arms, my hands to give to You and receive from You. I want more of You!

Isaiah 40:31 (AMP)

31 But those who wait for the Lord

[who expect, look for, and hope in Him]

shall change and renew their strength and power;

I want to change and be renewed in You. I desire Your power and strength running through my veins. I am a warrior in Your army. Your strength does indeed run through my spirit, soul, and body. You are always with me, never leaving me, never!! So my directions are clear~ obey you, and You will enable me to do all Your purpose in me requires. I have no fear! I trust in You!

Your will shall be done! Lord, glitter is pretty, but it is only glamor having no real meaning unless seen through the eyes of Your love. Nothing can compare with Your creations of exquisite splendor in nature, especially Your stars lighting up the darkness of the universe in the night sky.

And our human hunger for beauty causes us to attempt to copy it. It’s Your fault Lord, You created us in Your image and likeness. :)) And You are beautiful! The desire for beauty is in us. Your Goodness, Purity, and Holiness have an exquisite quality of loveliness that calls for our souls to imitate.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend. Looking at a sea of gravestones with an American flag standing tall before each one was a moving experience. There was an atmosphere of reverence encompassing the whole area. An older gentleman had brought a chair and just sat quietly before a grave. I wondered about him and the memories of his loved one he was reliving. I wanted to go up to him, but their was almost a shield protecting his privacy. So with a silent prayer for him, I walked on.

We took our grandkids with us and as we traveled there we talked about wars and how men and women sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.

The kids too experienced that atmosphere of quiet reverence and walked among the graves reading about the people who lay there. It was a meaningful time.

Thank You Lord for gifting us with these brave men and women too! Bless their families and loved ones that were left behind. Lord be with the current soldiers now risking their lives each day around the world. Protect them and give peace to their loved ones too. We honor them.

God Reminded Me

Yesterday, I stepped back for a moment, and saw myself like a little mouse running here and there gathering a days' worth of stuff; feeling the pressure to get accomplished all that needs to be done before. . .

Life gets so busy and sometimes I am guilty of forgetting ‘little things’, like to say please, and thank you, and sometimes to just stop for no reason and say, “I love you”. Seems time has sped up and there’s less of it for all those things I need to do; just thinking about it brings stress. . . God stopped me right there and shone His light on my thoughts and actions; I realized that those ‘little things’ are not little at all, it hit me square in the face.

I am a living breathing real child of God, not some robot designed to get things done. My reason to be here~ what is it? Looking into my husband’s eyes sparkling with a light of love and joy, listening to my grandson speaking excitedly telling me of his life, or my other asking heart-searching questions about our wonderful God, or my kids showing their love, sharing their life~ the reality speaks plainly. I’m not here to accomplish big jobs. God created me Oma, Mom, and Wife. These are my purpose; this is where my heart shares and teaches the love of God first and most importantly.

Do I also have a ministry? Yes. But in seeking God deep in my heart, I see Him smiling as He opens my eyes. He is first, and I continue to trust, honor and seek His face.

Psalm 46:10(NKJV)

Be still, and know that I am God;

Then the focus is on being the best wife possible. Allow God’s mighty love to flow through my relationships with family and friends. Rest in Him. Be still. No need to be a scurrying bunny captured by all that “stuff” of the world.

Sometimes I just need a talking to, and God is so good to come through for me: "Holy Spirit indwells you for a reason, Mary, listen to Him! Follow His lead. Rest in Him. Obey Him. Life can be sweet with a lot less stress!"

Do you have these awakening moments with God too?

Busy Bugs Eat Stillness

Posted on September 20, 2013 at 7:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Let me never be too busy to spend quality time with You, Father. I can tell it’s been awhile, when I hesitate to go to Your throne room. I am sorry Lord. Holy Spirit, thank You for reminding me and convicting me. Being with You is always a time of refreshment!

Some time ago there was that song ‘Cats In The Cradle’ of the little boy and his dad and every time the boy wanted the dad to play with him the dad was always too busy. When the boy grew up the roles reversed and the boy was too busy to pay attention to the dad. “... we’ll have a good time then son.” But “then” never really came. . .

When you comin' home dad?

I don't know when, but we'll get together then son

You know we'll have a good time then

I know Lord, You are a loving Father and will never be too busy for me; You gave Your Son for me. The depth of that love is incredible Father, I’ll never deserve it; but You love me deeply, because I am Your child. I recognize and am so thankful for what Jesus did for me, and I have invited Him into my heart and choose to serve Him as the Lord of Lords.

Father, I set aside time for You almost every day, but then distractions and other work invade the space and my mind takes off in different pursuits. And our one-on-one time gets eaten up. Today I focus on You and hear You say, “Be still and know that I am God.” What use to be easy has become difficult . . . “be still”. I was still for a bit then around the edges of my space of stillness crept busy little critters in frenzied momentum calling to me about all that needs to be accomplished today. It eats my stillness space. “Lord help me focus on You, give me a Scripture to study, something to do for You.” Perhaps that’s the problem~I always need to be DO-ING something. I need help Holy Spirit. Help me to quiet my mind and return to that place of peace.

Do you have trouble being 'still'?

Taking a Break

Posted on September 18, 2013 at 9:40 PM Comments comments (0)

Soft breeze, feeling like the breath of God, gently brushing my face, palm trees and tropical plants, birds of paradise, and a clear blue pool entrance my eyes as I sip a special brew. It’s quiet now this early morning. The Saturday night revelers are still in slumberland. The very softness of the air intrigues me. I could be seduced into staying here; well, not really, because after all, there’s a lot of work still to be done.

There are innumerable people in pain and needing Jesus; there are many who will be in hell if they do not get the Word. I’m convinced that each of us have some people who will only 'hear' the truth from us ~ it’s personal. if we do not tell them, it may never pierce their heart. That leaves us with one heck of a responsibility, aye? It isn’t as scary as it may seem, because Holy Spirit will prepare the way, He will open the heart to hear, but we must be willing to speak the Words He will give us. Dear friends, do not tarry overlong. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit nudging you, then take a breath and just speak! He knows the timing!

Today we must depart from this little ‘island’ of joy. It has been a few days chunked full of family and friends all tied together by a mission. We have a precious gift that must be shared. It’s time to move forward on our journey accomplishing the task set before us. . .

Home. [Yawn] More sleep required. So much more to be achieved! At the conference, it was a time of full focus. Home slams my mind with all that needs to be done now! Must make a commitment to get this house back in order! Hmmmm. Yes, this physical house, but even more my spirit 'house', that is my relationship with my Lord must be number one. After that there are phone calls, bills to pay, etc.

Thank You, my Lord, for this respite!

Ferocious Fire!

Posted on August 28, 2013 at 3:10 PM Comments comments (0)

FIRE! Fire consumes. Fire eats up dead wood. It feasts on dried out branches and weeds. It has a beauty that strikes awe and fear into the human heart. Fire reaches out and grabs all within its reach.

Fire also brings warmth and light. it cooks food. It crackles with happy laughter. A campfire is a place of cheer and togetherness. In the first aspect it is out of control. The second it is watched and directed with care. It can be a gift and a curse.

In the spirit fire is passion. We can be passionate about our love for God. We can be on fire for Him with an outrageous desire to serve Him no matter the cost. Paul was on fire for Jesus. He traveled wherever he was directed by God to spread the good news of a new life, a reborn life, a brand new totally different perspective of life ~ a life lived for Jesus. Peter and the apostles went from fishermen and tax collectors and workers of the world to dynamic on fire men of power to raise up and help and lead fellowmen to become one with God Almighty!

Luke 24:32

Back and forth they talked.

“Didn’t we feel on fire

as he conversed with us on the road,

as he opened up the Scriptures for us?”

Where is my fire? is my life humdrum? Dry? Unrewarding? Uncaring? Ignorant of the things of God? Or is there passion in my life? Is the passion out of control leading to a life of sin and lust?

Isaiah 9:18-21

Their wicked lives raged like an out-of-control fire,

the kind that burns everything in its path—Trees and bushes, weeds and grasses— filling the skies with smoke.

Or does it bring me to fight for righteousness and justice led by my desire to live for Christ and do His bidding? Am I on fire for the things of God? Am I fully dedicated to do things His way, or do I run after dried wood and weeds burning up my own things my own way or following where the world leads?

Feel the passionate fire of God in your heart! Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to burn with His desire at His direction, zealous to do His things His way. Be excited burning fiercely and fervently for the things of God!

What's Ahead?

Another month has fallen off the calendar, a new month is marching relentlessly on! This truth has been gnawing at the edges of my mind ~ the last months are gone, truly no longer available. How would they stack up according to attaining God’s plan in my life? What have I accomplished for Him? How has my meeting time with Him each day been going? Am I truly focusing on just Him, or am I allowing distractions to lure me away from our precious communication?

Looking back, the month of July was like catch -up, because June was a month of total disarray. Much got accomplished as far as remodel and clean out, but every-day-time spent with my Lord was seriously disrupted. My spirit was not fed its normal diet of rich learning in the Word. I missed it.

In looking ahead the summer stretches out with a couple of trips and some goals to accomplish, but I plan quiet time with my God each day. The importance of spending daily quality time with our Lord is crucial, for it is paramount to every aspect of our life. Simply put, His input is a requirement for the best outcome in every area, in every situation, in every moment. Time spent with God, when in the morning, puts a kick start to our day! It gives Holy Spirit permission to be our personal guide through every challenge, every possible danger, and every choice we have to make. With Holy Spirit leading, we all can receive God's best and arrive wherever the Father wishes us to be, and there can be no better place!

Father, You always surprise us. We don’t have to know what You have for the day, we just trust and desire Your strategy to be revealed during it. Each morning as the day begins, we will be waiting for your message, Your will, to guide our path for that day. Following You one day at a time will get us to the place You have in mind. This morning we simply choose to be governed by You in each minute. We trust You Lord!

Thank You Lord for giving us the opportunity to grow in You as You grow in us each day. One day we will reach the ultimate objective: to arrive in Your heavenly Kingdom and to help as many people as we can along the way - especially to help bring them knowledge of You.

Give Up Anxiety!

This past week was a real testing time for us. Our little home was in pretty much chaos with remodeling work being done. It required all our dining room things to be moved into the living room; the kitchen also was unusable. Had to wrap up and box all the treasures from the hutch. It was time consuming work. It was 5 days (that seemed like a month) before we were able to move back into the dining room and kitchen; that too was a big job. . . and a test.

As I reassembled the cherished items in our hutch, I realized some of our most valued ones were missing. Valuable and precious gifts from dear friends, a little china doll, a figurine I loved (that was in my house ever since I was a child), were all missing. A sense of loss attacked my spirit, a sickness in my stomach and soul hung on me like moss on a tree as negative thoughts flew in. Were some boxes stolen by a worker?

In the middle of the night a fierce attack came. It was a battle; after tossing around a while, I prayed and totally gave the treasures to God. I "saw" them in His hands and asked Him to return them to me. Then peace came and I was able to sleep. The next morning I thanked God that the missing would be returned. Later in the day we discovered we had forgotten that at the 'beginning of the project' my husband put several containers in our daughter’s storage unit. Guess what? All our cherished items were there. My faithful Lord held them and then returned them.

In speaking to God about this, He showed me that when I was upset with a negative spirit hovering over my mind, I was not looking for people to love and not loving anyone, rather I was self consumed with my loss. Oh and isn’t that how the enemy wants us to be?

Thank You Lord that You were faithful, and when I turned it all over to You, the evil spirit had to leave; my mind was protected and freed, my faith and trust in You was renewed, and a loving spirit was once again in ascendency!

Your word says:

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. (7) And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”(Phil. 4:6–7 Amp.)

It is so true! God’s promises are real and they are for all of us! Believe and cast Your burdens and anxieties upon the Lord! Be at peace. His faithfulness may surprise You!

Kenneth Hagin says: “As long as you do not take this first step—as long as you fret and have anxiety—you are nullifying the effects of your prayer. You haven’t cast your burden on the Lord—you still have it!”

Engaged After 2 weeks; 47 years later. . .

Well my beloved, we have walked this life road together for 47 years so far. It has been an interesting time. We embarked on this journey with mind and hearts committed to a marriage of forever. Our journey started out in Chicago, and the first thing that surfaces in my memory of that time is the birth of our oldest child ~ on my birthday. But then like a movie rolling, other memories come into view. . . like a couple of weeks before we were married on a hot humid night we met with the insurance agent in a small apartment that was to become our first home. We still laugh at this, because we opened the windows wide, and there was not a breath of fresh air ~ we didn’t know there were storm windows and they were shut tight! LOL!

Then there was the blizzard, Oh yeah! Pregnant and standing in the backyard with snow past my protruding abdomen. Uh huh! It closed down the Eisenhower expressway ~ It was an amazing sight to watch people walking down that major highway and actually speaking to each other :))

Our next home was Colorado. When Bill and I first met we talked for hours and found we both love mountains. We thank God every day for bringing us to this beautiful state! It fits us perfectly with the climate, the beauty, and the people!

We have found wonderful friendships and a church to teach us God’s Word and how it can become our owner's manual to a successful life. This is embodied in my eyes by the mountains which stand guard at our back, for they are solid, rugged, and stand tall through every challenge ~ like God in our lives.

One of our first ‘tourist’ experiences was to go on a mountain trip with our 3 month old baby and forget to bring the diaper bag. Oh, that was fun! They don’t have 7/11's in the mountains. But it was a great day anyway!

Then there was our romantic weekend without the kids. Of course we went for a hike in the mountains ~ and got stranded by a heavily running mountain stream. Couldn’t find a safe place to cross to get back up to the road. Since it was quickly turning dark, I began gathering firewood as Bill waved his undershirt to attract attention from the road. God led us to a little area, sort of a mini fort, someone had built of stones complete with fireplace. As full dark settled in, we built a fire. A driver must have seen us and called the rescue squad, because soon a BIG truck complete with huge spotlights stopped over on the road. Long story short, after one rescuer overturned in a boat trying to get across the racing waters, they ‘littered’ us across the stream and we were rescued. The man overturning in the rushing water scared me, and I said I’d rather stay all night on the mountain than have someone risk their life for me. Then they told us there was a big ole mountain lion sitting in a tree watching us. OK. Thanks for the rescue!!

Raising our kids was challenging as every parent knows, but we did our best. How I wish we knew the Lord during those times! I mean, we ‘knew Him’, but we really didn’t have an intimate relationship with Him then. That came later. We did our best to teach our little ones about God, at least as much as we knew Him at the time.

Thank You Lord for pursuing us and bringing us to the church which offered truth. Since this church teaches the Word of God, we came to truly know the Creator and Jesus His Son. This drew us closer to each other. As God became an intricate part of our life, we grew in many ways.

When cancer attacked me back in ’04, my Father was right there beside me. Jesus gave me His joy to fly me through the healing process. My staunch supporter husband was a strength and a joy! My church family also helped out.

Being married to Bill is to watch my incredible godly husband grow into a man who tries always to please the Lord and to love me well. We are of like mind on all important ideas and we have a lot of fun laughing every day! We have our silly little ‘games’ we play that bring fun times we enjoy. It has been an interesting, varied marriage journey with God as our guide, and we are both grateful for His many blessings in our lives.

Firery Wake Up Call?

Posted on June 22, 2013 at 7:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Hearts are mourning and tears are falling as people begin to realize the depth of destruction they have suffered from the terrifying fires sweeping through our mountains this week. Many lost almost everything material that they owned, as well as somethings non-material like memories stored in photos and computers, thoughts and perhaps books stored on computers that were burned up. Some are stout and surface with thankfulness that they and their families are alive and well! Others lost something intangible, like the couple who worked all their lives ready to enjoy a good retirement in their “special place” to finish out their lives. Then one day ‘poof’ that ‘special place’ was gone up in smoke.

Saddest of all were were two people who thought their belongings were too precious to leave behind. They took too long packing everything and died along with their home. How sad! They were disobedient to the mandatory call to leave immediately thinking surely they had time to pack up some things. How often do our disobedient actions cause us to lose out?

Please pray for these two people and for all victims of the fires! Remember them as you happen to look at a picture of your family.

We may not die outwardly from all rebelliousness, but we can die inwardly, spiritually. Not obeying God’s directions and commandments, can open the door for the enemy to come in and lead us to destruction in the sinful pride of “I know better”. Yes, as surely as it led that poor couple into a burning death, our deliberate rebelliousness can cause spiritual death thus losing our chance to spend an eternity with our loving Father and Jesus in heaven. It will cast us into a hellfire of eternal suffering.

These are different times we are living in right now. Confusion reigns in many minds. Division separates people and even families. Coldness of heart grows as the enemy battles for the souls of mankind. We can use these fires as a wake up call to search our minds, and souls for true meaning in life. Its too late for the non-essentials, for flippant words, for attempting to hold onto former thoughts, hurts and false values.

What if all these nonessential things were suddenly gone? What is left of value? Find truth within. Find God and His passionate desire to be close to us, then seek His face with fire in our hearts!

My Dad

Kinda in a sentimental mood today thinking about my Dad. What a good man he was! I remember as a small child when he came home after a hard day at work, we would rush to greet him and take his overcoat to hang up for him. He always used a special sturdy curved hanger. We had to learn which way to put the coat on it. Do the shoulders go back as we are suppose to stand? Or do they curve forward? Funny how that old memory came back just now :))

Saturdays with dad were fun for me. If he went to the hardware store for something he would take along any who wanted to go. I almost always went with him. When he did projects of home maintenance, I was his helper. He taught me so many things in many different ways. My daddy was a wise man.

Dad loved music and I can still catch a whiff of the feeling on Sundays. After church Mom would cook breakfast and Dad would put a record on and the atmosphere was one of rest and calm. The enticing scent of bacon cooking and of bread heating was delish! Adding to the peace in the winter, dad would put a fire in the fireplace. It’s cheerful warmth and crackling wood spread a pleasant atmosphere throughout the day.

Dad also loved our ample back porch; it was over the garage, so up high. It faced a wood complete with birdsong and bunnies. We often spent summer evenings out there eating meals, reading and talking together. It finally came to me how my father was the center of our family. He was the head, yes, and he was also a heart source. His love for his family though rarely voiced, was shown in many ways.

Use to love November, because about that time of year, dad liked to walk in the woods and he would take me along. We would amble through the crackling leaf strewn path and talk about many things. With jackets zipped up to the neck and hats on heads, we didn’t mind the brisk air; it just added to the joy of our walk in the wood.

He was a wonderful Father and I’m so happy he is home with Father God and I’ll see him again!

Reflecting Battlegrounds

Our recent experience with nature's battle between Spring and Winter caused me to meditate on life. I really thought by May Spring would have won it’s right to exist; but winter refused to give up, so we began the new month with winter’s cold and snow; however Spring continued to valiantly battle; so by the weekend warmer temperatures did prevail. I believe the same war is being waged in the spiritual world as well.

The Word tells us in the last days hearts will grow cold. . . the battle for the hearts of God’s children is being executed today. We need to watch and stay close to the Lord in obedience.

Lord, You are my Lord!

There is so much to 'take in' in this age. Perhaps I do not wish to “take it in.” Rather I’d like to leave it out. Evil is eagerly gobbling up every opportunity to spread it’s vileness; laws are being passed to destroy our values and constitutional rights. Our children are taught falsehood and are being treated like criminals at young ages.

Youngsters are suspended or expelled for silly reasons. How many of you played “cops and robbers” as kids and had a cap gun? I saw a documentary where 6 kindergarteners were suspended for playing that using fingers as “guns”. A young child was kicked out for pointing a potato nibbled into a gun-like shape in the lunch room; some children as young as 10 and 11 are being arrested, handcuffed, fingerprinted and sent to jail for innocuous reasons in the name of zero tolerance. One of them threw a spit wad across the room at a girl. He was arrested and accused of assault. I recall being kept after school in first grade for the same offense. Why should good kids be treated as criminals? What better place than jail to learn evil?

This is something that needs to be halted. Our children are our biggest treasure and our greatest asset! Our problem is we get upset, but as the irritation continues, we begin to accept it. It's kinda like the continued snow storms here in Colorado (when it’s suppose to be Spring), began to weary people. Trying to stay positive and look for God’s hand in all this was difficult. So then I look at the nation and all the battles evil is promoting in so many areas, and I can see why their persistence can wear good men down and they could win the war. For war it is!

Either God fearing people stand up and fight in all these areas to defend our children, our values and our rights or evil will win! Everyone no matter their physical condition can pray, and prayer is absolutely required to win! Also necessary is to speak out about God and do not be afraid to stand behind our Christian beliefs. The Bible holds absolute truth and weapons. Look at Ephesians:

Ephesians 6:10-24 (AMP)

10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

11 Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

13 Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,

15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.

16 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].

17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).

My friends, do not allow yourselves to grow weary in well doing!

2 Thessalonians 3:13 (AMP)

And as for you, brethren, do not become weary or lose heart in doing right [but continue in well-doing without weakening].

We must stay strong and wary of the enemy’s moves, for he is subtle, but deadly. He hatefully seeks the hearts of God's children with a vengeance! Do not close eyes to his calculating goals! Pray and put on God’s armor and join the militia that’s fighting for our children and for God to rule in our nation and in the world.
