Feeling Like A Dullard

Lord Lord! You are mighty and You stand with muscled arm, fiery eyes, a thunderous voice, and a vigorous love in your heart for us. Lord, my God, before You I bow. You are Holy and it is only by Your love and grace that I can approach You at all. Your goodness is a sun of light that pierces my eyes; I cannot look at it. It is only by Your grace that I can have a taste of Who You are. Jesus came that we might get to know You and Your character of love and goodness.

There are times when I wake up in the morning with a grayness in my spirit. My mind is dull, my eyes have no sparkle. Yet I come before my God anyway. Sometimes I just sit. But usually I try to write out a little praise, you know, like “O God You are mighty and good. . .  “. That happened the other morning. And God reminded me of a story I heard a friend share at prayer~

Story of the shepherd: Sometimes a baby lamb is born and its mother rejects it and pushes it away. If nothing is done that lamb will die of a broken spirit. These lambs are called bummers. So at lambing time the shepherd keeps special watch to be sure none of the babies are bummers. If he sees one, he goes to it and tenderly picks it up and takes it home, feeds it and holds it often to his heart. At the proper time he will return it to the herd. When he wants to gather the sheep, he calls them, and the little bummers come running to him. They know his voice and have heard his heart.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd. When we are feeling cast off, or rejected, Jesus will comfort us. His love and compassion will draw us in. It’s in spending time with Him that we get to hear His heartbeat and know His voice.

My God is always faithful. When I come to Him with a humble heart and a seeking in my soul, He will meet me wherever I am. I choose to spend time with Him each day waking at o’dark early so we are alone together. Sometimes the enemy demon of distraction tries to sneak in and steal my alone time. But I usually detect it now and evict it in the name of Jesus. Then I can move forward following the Holy Spirit’s lead, like this day when He was showing me the Love of my good Shepherd for me.

I sit and allow the tender love of my Savior to fill my soul. You are giving me rest this morning, Lord. And I give myself to You. As my friend’s prayer says, “I give you everything in me. I empty my soul of me, and I ask that, if it be Your will, You will fill me with Your Word. I give You any illness in me and ask for healing for them. However, if Your plan is to use one or more for the salvation of Your children, I give any to You to use as You see fit. Meanwhile, I live in Your Kingdom and place You as my Holy God, my King of Kings! I bow to Your will.

Sometimes I get too filled up with the world and forget that You are my everything. You created me with intent and purpose, and I bow to Your will. That is my will~ to have Your will rule my life. I know Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP) shows me that You have a good plan for my life~
11 For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.
I trust You to be in control of my life, Jesus, my Good Shepherd!

Seems even when i feel like a dullard sometimes upon awakening, my God will use my willing heart to fill with His love and tenderness and teaching. Sometimes He just reminds me of what I already know that has been sitting in reserve for a time. He is always faithful.

My friends, do you spend time with Him each day? Have you come to know His faithfulness? I encourage you to set an appointment with Him each day, and make it a priority in your life. The rewards are greater than you can imagine!
