As the next morning began to dawn, I awoke with this Scripture going through my mind:
Then shall your light break forth like the morning,
and your healing (your restoration and the power of a new life)
shall spring forth speedily;
your righteousness (your rightness, your justice,
and your right relationship with God) shall go before you
[conducting you to peace and prosperity],
and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
A feeling of peace fills my spirit as dawn breaks the darkness. I relish the warmth of my sleeping bag and say my thankfulness to God for His protection through the night. As the drowsiness lifts, a deep desire for the last day’s adventures to begin, gets me up and dressing warmly. I'm on my way navigating the continuation of yesterday’s trail and it's not too stressful, but rounding a corner and seeing the challenge ahead slows me down a bit.
This last day was calling me to walk a pointed ledge with no wall on either side. A little ball of fear rushed up the hill and jumped into the pit of my stomach. I have never liked heights, but to this point I had done ok with Holy Spirit’s encouragement and closeness. This next trek was way beyond scary in my imagination.
James 4:7-9 (MSG)
So let God work his will in you.
Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper.
Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time.
Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life.
Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out.
The fun and games are over
This Scripture led me to look at what was going on here, and so decided I might benefit by a rest, a bit of breakfast, and having a little chat with God. [No procrastination here, oh no. :)]
Speak the truth to God: “Lord I’m sorry for not trusting You fully here. I know You are faithful, but this is really hard for me. I repent, Lord, that I’m allowing fear to cause this terror in me. Lord, I humbly bow down to You and put myself in Your hands, and I know You will help me."
Sure enough, Holy Spirit showed me verse 10 of James 4:
James 4:10 (AMP)
Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance]
in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you
[He will lift you up,
He will give you purpose].
He is so faithful and knows just what I need!! This verse reinvigorated my spirit, and so the purpose of the path took my hand and pulled me along. As I reached the stone that would lift me up to the last treacherous climb to the pinnacle, butterflies started flying around my middle again. Fear is the enemy! I shall not tolerate fear! My God is with me and He will lift me up! Took a deep breath and focusing on the ridge I must walk to complete the trial, I ‘saw’ Jesus waiting for me to help me; thus completely encouraged, I kept moving upward to Jesus. . .
This verse came to mind:
Because you have kept the word of My endurance
[My command to persevere], I will keep you [safe] from the hour of trial,
that hour which is about to come on the whole [inhabited] world,
to test those who live on the earth.
This was my test. I completed it all the way and lifted my hands to praise God in exhilaration! My friends, our lives all have God given purpose, and He will help us fulfill that purpose if we invite His help. More trials are coming to our lives; let us all be sure to hold onto the Master, our Savior, who gave His life, shed His blood for us.
Accept His gift from Jesus, and receive all the inspiration, encouragement, and enlightenment needed to pass your life journey of testing. Then we will joyfully meet in eternity.
