Marvelous pure mountain air fills my lungs, enlightens my spirit and leads me into morning prayer~
Praise You, my Holy Spirit! At the commencement of this 2nd day on the mountain, I begin by giving this day to You. I give me to You; You want my heart. I want Your heart. I bow before You, My Lord and King and offer my mind, my body, my spirit to serve You, to love You; because it’s not just the doing, it’s the being. I want to be with You; I desire Your Presence with me all the time.
“Mary, I Am always with You. I shall never leave you. I’ve got your back. I go out in front of you to prepare the way. Never fear. I’ve got you. I hold you safely in the palm of my hand.”
Thank You Lord!
Your Word anchors me Lord. Thank You for this Word of Scripture:
Hebrews 6:13-16 (MSG)
God Gave His Word
When God made his promise to Abraham,
He backed it to the hilt, putting his own reputation on the line.
He said, “I promise that I’ll bless you with everything I have—
bless and bless and bless!
” Abraham stuck it out and got everything
that had been promised to him.
When people make promises,
they guarantee them by appeal to some authority above them
so that if there is any question that
they’ll make good on the promise, the authority will back them up.
In reading these verses, I remembered shopping at a Costco store last week. They were selling pillows, and I had been looking for a good one. They were talking very highly of the virtues of this memory foam pieces mixed with bamboo pillow. They said it was backed up by the Costco guarantee, which I know to be good. Even though they were more expensive than I’d normally pay, I bought them mainly because they were backed by Costco’s guarantee.
As soon as I read the above Scripture saying: When people make promises, they guarantee them by appeal to some authority above them so that if there is any question that they’ll make good on the promise, the authority will back them up.
I knew just what the verse was referring to and I could relate. God’s Word is a guarantee and there is none better! As we grow, our understanding of God’s Word grows, and our trust in God increases.
Verse 19 also grabs my attention:
. . . 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul,
firm and secure.
I like this verse 19, because I find His Word does 'anchor' my soul. I don’t know about you, but sometimes my faith can have a tendency to wander off course leaving me feeling weak. Now I know how to counteract it when this attack comes. It involves talking to Holy Spirit and asking Him for a Scripture to help. He always comes through for me. Scriptures will take hold of my soul and pull it back into line.
The soul is the mind, will and the emotions. Sometimes it’s the mind that gets derailed, occasionally the will, but often the emotions. The enemy is a master manipulator of emotions, speaking hurtful lies and deceptions into the soul, and thus emotions are often his target.
That is why I am so diligent to meet with my Lord and Master each morning, for He knows me so well; He will throw the anchor overboard when I need to stop and rest in His Presence. He anchors my soul keeping me close to Himself. His Word is the food that nourishes me, keeping my whole being intertwined with Jesus. It weaves who I am with Jesus through the power of the captivating Holy Spirit. I become one with God in the sense that Jesus used in John 17:
“I do not pray for these alone,
but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;
21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You;
that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them,
that they may be one just as We are one:
23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one,
and that the world may know that You have sent Me,
and have loved them as You have loved Me.
This Scripture does indeed fill me with boldness for the day ahead. No matter what it holds, I shall overcome, because God loves me and i am one with Him.
Time to head out on the trail again. . .
