The Holy Spirit has really put on my heart the urgency of beginning to pray NOW for the coming election~it’s only a few months away. Only God knows the plans He has for this nation, and it’s up to us to pray them in. Who knows if this nation was not chosen by God ‘for such a time as this'?
I’ve read a recent GPAN that shared a portion of Patsy Clementi’s book For Such A Time As This.
Patsy pulls out Queen Esther from Scripture and talks of her great work, when at the risk of her own life, she saved the Jewish nation~ who were the ancestral lineage of Christ. I believe you would agree with me, that this is a critical time in our history, and the political atmosphere is a bit crazy. But we are not to be discouraged. We just keep remembering GOD HAS A PLAN. As Esther told Mordecai to have all the Jews fast for her, and she and her maids would fast as well. . . so too it is necessary to be fasting and praying for God’s will to happen today~ for the candidates of His choosing to be elected. Our human minds are not capable of seeing into the future, but God knows the future, and He has a strategy.
Quote from GPAN:
Even with the right person in authority, we must remember that the government is not itself the highest authority. The government rests upon the shoulders of the Body of Christ. The Church is to carry the government.
In fact, governmental authority is not the highest position of authority which can be occupied by the righteous. The highest authority is the Throne of God, and we have been raised to sit at God’s right hand in Christ.
Just saying, my friends, do not allow the enemy and his use of the media and their/his plans to be an influence upon your decision. Rather pray with the intent that God will show you His will, His choosing of the candidate before you cast your vote. Allow God alone to influence your choices.
GPAN: Proverbs 21:1 says that God can turn the heart of a king. When we pray, God communicates with leaders and influences them in a variety of ways~
One way God speaks is through dreams. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream which made him sick and unable to eat or sleep. (Dan. chapter 4). Pharaoh had a dream which only Joseph could interpret, positioning Joseph as a second in the kingdom (Gen. chapter 41).
God confused the counsel which was to be given to King Ahab so he did the wrong thing. God arranged for him to believe stupid counsel (2 Chron. Chapter 18). The same things happened with Absalom: he believed the wrong counsel (2 Sam. chapter 17).
Originally, these men had dangerous plans, but their schemes were foiled when they believed wrong counsel. Do you see what tremendous advantage we have as we work together with God? Haman’s wicked scheme was sabotaged and a “road was built” for God’s glory to be manifested.
I feel compelled to ask you, my friends, to join me in beginning now to pray for our candidates in the coming election as God instructs in
1 Timothy 2:1-2(AMPC)
2 First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers,
intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,
2 For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility,
that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life
[and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence
and seriousness in every way.
Perhaps you can begin a “Pray for our nation” prayer group in your church. Pray in God’s will for this nation. There is no excuse not to be active in government~ for prayer is a powerful action and as history demonstrates, it is only with God that this country can advance to be all God created us to become.
