The Father's Heart

Matthew 18:1-3 (AMP)
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked,
“Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child and set him before them,
3 and said,
“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives]
and become like children [trusting, humble,
and forgiving],
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

This Scripture so hits home with me! Of what inner traits do I need to repent? What thoughts do I harbor (give home to)? Are they good, obedient, loving thoughts? Or do they slip into the negative, angry, resentful, willful, or rebellious ones? Holy Spirit teaches me to think:

Philippians 4:8 (AMP)
Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect,
whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome,
whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute;
if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise,
think continually on these things [center your mind on them,
and implant them in your heart].

These are the things to focus on and implant in my heart. I love His Word! It is so practical and full of common sense!

Jesus tells us: become like a little child. I remember when my grandchildren were born. Part of their preciousness is there total trust in their parents and other loving adults. From the time they are born there is this bond that links hearts together~ Mom, Dad, Oma, Opa, etc and the child's security is woven with that bond of love. They trust so completely, and it is a beautiful picture of how our relationship with our God should be. His love for us is so extraordinary that we can count on it in every situation and through every trial.

Our God is our Father who cares for us with gentleness and protection. He wraps us in the warm blanket of His love and speaks quietly through His Spirit letting us know He is always with us and always has our back. The enemy cannot sneak up on us, cannot harm us when we build that childlike relationship with our Father God. We fully trust Him and rely on Him; He will never abandon us!

Hebrews 13:5 (AMP)
5 Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature]
be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical],
being content with what you have;
for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you
[nor give you up nor leave you without support,
nor will I in any degree leave you helpless],
nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you
[assuredly not]!”

My friends, if today you need encouragement, then take these words humbly to heart fully knowing how closely and affectionately our Creator holds you in His hands.

Valentine's Day is Sunday. What greater love can there ever be than the faithful love of our God? Grab hold of Him, for He will never let you go!
When I was first attacked with cancer, God told me:

Isaiah 43:1 (AMP)
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you [from captivity];
I have called you by name, Mary;
you are Mine!
