Sometimes I get to feeling tired and that’s a perfect time for the enemy, who is always on watch for a kink in my/our armor, to attack; It happened last night as I tried to go to sleep; he sent a demon to bring evil twisted thoughts into my mind. They were built on potent memories from of old, and I fought them as best I could. Finally I just gave them to Holy Spirit reminding Him of His promise He would perfect any concern I brought to Him:
Psalm 138:8 (NKJV)
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
And with that claim to His promise, I was able to go to sleep. Sometimes I feel no longer young; it’s getting more difficult to remember that with God He controls things, not my feelings! That is why I must spend more time with Him, because He reinforces His Word in me, and that builds up my faith.
Today He brought me a story told by Jerre in a GPAN letter that was a faith builder and a teaching:
I keep getting this vision of Tommy Norman when his son was dying in the hospital in Hawaii. He called his pastor, Russ Kallenberg, and his pastor said to him, “You need to laugh at the devil.” He didn’t feel like laughing. His boy was about five at the time. He ended up saying that he was going to obey his pastor. He slid down the wall and fell on the floor and was laughing. I believe the nurses thought they were going to have to put him on their psych floor.
But what happened to him when he laughed is the strength from God almighty came. The Lord showed me joy and strength.
I saw a vision of two hands. One was joy and the other was strength. The hands came together. So that joy and strength came into him and he went in there again. This time with the strength of the Lord. He laid hands on his boy and in that joy and strength, in that real faith, not pseudo faith but real faith, and the joy of the Lord accompanying it… when he laid hands on him, all the monitors started going to way different places. And his boy opened his eyes and said, “Daddy, I’m hungry.” But that came from the joy of the Lord. The place of real faith. The place of joy. The place of rest and peace.
This reminded me of the journey God walked with me through a cancer attack on my body. It began with the enemy putting a black cloud over my head; recognizing it as an enemy attack, I told the Lord we needed to have a little chat. Next morning, my Bible opened to John 15 where Jesus says:
John 15:10-11 (AMP)
10 If you keep My commandments and obey My teaching,
you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments
and remain in His love. 11 I have told you these things
so that My joy and delight may be in you,
and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing.
I looked at that and said, “Jesus I obey Your commandments; I qualify for this promise, and I claim it.” Right then Jesus filled me with His joy from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. When the diagnosis came to me that afternoon, the joy of the Lord remained and no fear could come near me. That inner joy was amazing! No fear ever came near me throughout the journey, no matter what tests indicated. When the successful end of the journey was reached, the Lord began to bring a Scripture to my attention in various ways:
Isaiah 62:10 (AMP)
Go through, go through the gates,
Clear the way for the people;
Build up, build up the highway,
Remove the stones, lift up a banner over the peoples.
From here came the book:
Cast Up A Highway. The complete story can be found in the book itself. The Lord revealed to me that the purpose for the book was that He wanted His people to know how to go through trials with joy in their heart.
Are you in a trial right now? Look to Jesus for His joy! It’s His tool to help us though the storms and troubles of life. If you are in a storm, take time to search for His promised joy! It is a strong gift for battling every enemy tactic!
