A strand of memory weaves me back to long, long ago. I’m walking through the woods on a frosty afternoon beside the tall figure of my Dad. Leaves crunch beneath our feet as we stride under almost bare branches. Tis an excellent time to chat~ just me and my Dad. It’s Thanksgiving Day and cheerfulness rides on the breeze. Such joy! [This day always reminds me of my Dad. Thank You Lord for a wonderful Father!]
Returning to the house our arms carry kindling for the fire. Smell of roasting turkey brings smiles of anticipation. The red and yellow flames in the fireplace will give a cheery greeting to all who enter, as the sound of music sets the mood.
Our Thanksgiving has always been celebrated with family and friends. Like the Pilgrims who so long ago joined together to thank God for their survival, we too gather in gratitude for His blessings over our family, friends and country. Our beautiful nation was founded by people searching for the freedom to worship You alone Lord, and let that worship be integral to their whole life.
From this desire sprang one of the greatest nations, whose arms were also open to other freedom seekers. And Father You blessed us. We want to continue honoring You, though the enemy is working hard to make it increasingly more difficult; however, You know our hearts and will guide us through this time of trial. Thank You Father!
Thanksgiving past, present , now what will the future bring? I don't know, but You do Lord, and You are in control. So I fear not; I trust in You for You are the Alpha and the Omega.
