One particular Scripture has recently touched my heart, because as I began to see the signs of aging on my body, my confidence began to go down. “Does anybody listen to those who have grown older?” I questioned. “Am I still of any use to God?” I asked. It’s easy to spot the reactions of people I know and don’t know, especially the youth. A depression began to try and come upon me. It was then I became reacquainted with: Psalm 92:13-15
Planted in the house of the Lord,
they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 [Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age;
they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality]
and [rich in the] verdure…”
Verdure is a condition of health and vigor.
“…[of trust, love, and contentment].
15 [They are living memorials] to show
that the Lord is upright
and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock,
and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”
My Rock indeed!! Love this promise~ ‘they shall still bring forth fruit in old age’. They shall remain healthy and full of ‘spiritual vitality’! I am a living memorial to show God’s goodness and faithfulness. Now I like that! How about you? Do you ever begin to doubt yourself and see yourself according to the world instead of seeing yourself as God does?
I’m reminded of the young woman, that I wrote about previously, who was severely burned about her face and torso. Her face, though scarred, is beautiful as it reflects the love of God. She shines like a full moon reflecting Jesus love and reaches a lot of people for Him. After meeting her I looked into the mirror studying the wrinkles and discolorations of my own reflection. If she can reach multitudes with her scars, why could I not do the same with a few wrinkles? It’s not by my power that people hear the Word, but through Holy Spirit speaking through me. He can cause them to see me any way He wants. It’s not up to me. With this revelation came thanksgiving and joy! Thank You Lord for teaching me a valuable lesson. Vanity is not worth anything:
Psalm 119:37 (AMP)
Turn my eyes away from vanity
[all those worldly, meaningless things that distract—
let Your priorities be mine],
And restore me [with renewed energy] in Your ways.
Indeed, restore me with renewed energy in Your ways O Lord!
Are you in need of restoration? I would tell you to remove your eyes from yourself and focus on Almighty God who wants to use you to His glory! Wants to lift you high! Submit yourself to His hands and let Him make you all you can be!
