‘You have insufficient space on your iCloud’ said my iPhone.
How frustrating it was that I could find no way to delete pictures that I didn’t need from the mind of my iPhone. Love technology. Hate technology. Grrr. I couldn’t take more pictures and other things were disabled as well. My morning was off to a poor start.
As it did happen to be Sunday, I put away the offending device and prepared for church. On the way there I could hear Holy Spirit begin to speak:
“With what do you fill up your mind? How often can I not get through to you because of other undeleted things crowding in? Have you given your concerns to Jesus as He asked? Or are they still crouching there in your mind file? What worries could you dispose of by trusting in God’s word?
Psalm 138:8? I will perfect that which concerns you.
And in Matthew we find that Jesus said,
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Ok, I know it is true. We can give our concerns to Jesus and unburden ourselves of those anxieties that crowd in on our thoughts. We can trust Father God to take care of situations we cannot control. Meditating on this, I see it truly is simply a matter of choice, and if we choose God’s way, our minds are freed up to hear Holy Spirit’s counsel and commands. Indeed, the choice can move us forward on a path designed to bring out our highest potential, and to fulfill the goals God has built into our years here on earth.
This personal “iPhone brain” (that's me) is choosing to clear out the trash and trust God with the troubles that have consumed its mind. Peace is my reward, and the fulfillment comes as I hear Holy Spirit talk to me:
“Spend more time with me, Mary, and my Words alone will lead you and clear out the clogged patches on the trail.”
Does your brain’s iCloud get too full? What do you do to clear out the trash?
