Who Carries Us Through Pain?

This morning my memory is being called back to the early days of life. . .  wrapped tightly in a soft warm blanket and cuddled in arms of love, the infant deeply asleep. Now there are also times when gas pains bring forth cries of anguish and no amount of love stops the pain, but when it settles, those loving arms have remained there consoling, easing the memory.

Spring forth through time to these adult days. The hunger for the warm loving arms remains. How marvelous that we have a loving Father whose presence can create the same feelings of warmth and love. Holy Spirit indwells me. My Holy Spirit Who loves me dearly is always with me. Yes, it’s the feeling of being swaddled in a soft warm blanket of tender intimacy as I enjoy His Presence.

As an infant suffers digestive pains, we too do not get through life without pains~ physical, mental, emotional. As we suffer, God’s loving arms are still holding us up, and we can transcend all trouble trusting in Him.

There are losses in life that seem overwhelming like the loss of a child or a parent or another loved one; the loss seems to bite a chunk out of our very insides leaving a hole only God can fill with His comforting care. He is always with us, but we must make the move to go to Him, for there is an evil one roaming the world who gleefully tries to instill anger and resentment against God in the minds of the ones suffering; the devil pours gasoline on the fire of their pain with negative thoughts. If that is you, turn from the enemy blast of dissension and rebellion and kneel before our mighty God, our loving Father, and ask for His help, His comfort, His truth. He will bring you through the fog of aching sorrow to a new wholeness.

We are never promised a life of only happiness and fun, and if we expect that, we will be disappointed. However, we can have a life filled with a joy that will ride us over much of the traumatic. For example, in the book Cast Up A Highway I share my experience of going through cancer with joy in my heart. How does God do that? All I can say is HE IS GOD and He is good!

You are God's beloved child, and He will be with you through all troubles, sorrows and pains; just take them to Him in trust.
