The Ledge 1

"Walk with me Mary up the steep path to the top of the mountain." Ok Lord. It is a struggle and muscles get tired, lungs begin gulping air as oxygen thins. Physical stress test. . . why Jesus? “Nothing of value comes easily”, He responds.

1 Timothy 4:8(AMP)
For physical training is of some value (useful for a little), but godliness (spiritual training) is useful and of value in everything and in every way, for it holds promise for the present life and also for the life which is to come

Lord, can we rest for a minute? Resting a moment, I ask myself, “Is it worth it?” Muscles screaming now; but my inner will shouts, “get up, I'm not  quitting”. I will not quit this climb to the top. Jesus reads this thought and asks, “What is the top, Mary? In your heart, what is it you are striving for?”
I am following You Jesus, to the top of wherever You lead me.
“But, Mary what is it that is really the top of the mountain for you?" [Ah a question to meditate on] Ahead is a fork in the trail. It’s time for you to lead, Mary.”

“Jesus, tell me which way to go. I will be obedient.” But, I can no longer see Him. So I proceed and sure enough, around the next bend in the trail is a split.
One way leads to a ledge that is not all that wide and I cannot see around its bend.

To the right the trail continues up; it is still steep but safe. My mind cries,

“Oh Jesus, You do know how to challenge me, don’t You?” Somehow, I know He wants me to take the ledge of dangers, because I do not like heights and I would have to trust in Him for my safety. It's a good thing I know Your promises, Lord!

Deuteronomy 31:6 (AMP)
Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you.

Has Jesus challenged you this way recently?
