Woke up with a peace this morning. In my quiet time, I saw a garden and Jesus invites me to walk in it. An early morning walk in the garden with You, Jesus, sounds wonderful! As we approach some rocks and a cliff going up, Jesus begins to climb the cliff with a look saying, "you come too," instructing me where to put hands and feet. I ask, “can I do this?” He responds with a “yes you can”.
I’m not much for high places, but I obey. As we get higher Jesus sees I’m getting a little scared, and He tells me, “just lean into the rock”. Yes, I see it supports me and my fear seems to seep into the rock.
Then it hits me~ Jesus is the Rock and any fear can be extinguished if I just lean into Him. Love the ways He teaches lessons!
I think I’ll make a habit of meeting Jesus for a daily walk in the Garden. Just seeing His warm loving smile speaks joy into my being. Next morning Jesus once again takes the lead down the same path; as we come again to the cliff, Jesus begins to climb. I follow the same route remembering to lean into the rock. We reach the place of yesterday’s rest, but this time Jesus continues to climb.
“Follow my footsteps”, He says. I try, but one handhold was not His and it crumbled as I tried to pull my weight up. [NOTE: I tried to pull my weight up on a place that was not His] Then Jesus 'opened my eyes', and I saw each place he used was illuminated by a softly glowing light; I was able to follow His hand holds and footholds. It was a big strain on the muscles; “Lord, am I strong enough for this?” He looks at me and responds, “Mary, You have Holy Spirit in You; you are strong enough for anything I ask of you.”
Romans 16:24-26 (MSG)
All of our praise rises to the One who is strong enough
to make you strong,
exactly as preached in Jesus Christ,
precisely as revealed in the mystery kept secret for so long
but now an open book through the prophetic Scriptures.
All the nations of the world can now know the truth
and be brought into obedient belief,
carrying out the orders of God,
who got all this started,
down to the very last letter.
As we reach the next stopping place, I see it is a ledge wide enough to sit down and lean against the rock wall, and rest.
We are high up; Jesus looks at me sadly and speaks, “Look and see”. It is quite a disturbing vista, for beyond the garden a darkness is creeping steadily over the land. Then Jesus asked, “Will you live out there in the darkness and carry my light of truth?” Hesitantly, I ask, “Will You go with me?” He smiles and says, “I am always with You!”
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed,
for I am your God. I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you
with My righteous right hand.’
What do you answer?
