New Year. Fresh Start.

Starting the New year out with great promise this morning, as the dark sky became a canvas and the Lord Artist began to paint. Ah! Such beauty emerges stroke by stroke. Clouds scattered horizon to horizon transform into a red-orange luminescent sky! Bare branches of large trees lift their black arms in worship. Stunned, I stand, as my eyes create a mind photo of the the brilliance. No canvas could ever capture such magnificence! Turning I see out the west facing window the heavy dark cloud hanging there has turned to a deep purple, except for the lower parts dripping deep salmon colors.

Our Father loves us so much! He gifts us with eyes to enjoy such beauty! He also created us with hearts that fill with joy at His creation, tenderized hearts which also can perceive the gentleness and power of a new born infant, or see the soul pain of another. He offers His love to move through us to others. His love opens depths into our souls allowing deep connectedness to fellow human beings. (sometimes to other critters of His creation too).  Lord, tenderize my heart so I can share the warmth of Your love with others.

Sometimes we encounter freezing cold, frigid winds which combine to bring hardship. It is not a pleasant adventure for anyone to be out in the bitter cold. That is outside, a physical cold. More hurtful still can be a coldness of heart. A person of unforgiveness carries winter inside all the time, like ice crystals forming inch by inch causing bitterness to form in the personality until forgiveness is rendered.

Forgiveness is so misunderstood. The enemy brings  deception feeding the wounded with destructive thoughts to continually recreate the hurt in their mind. When one is captured in the fist of the enemy, it’s difficult for the injured party to choose to forgive; however, it is an essential choice for joy to exist and for a life with God’s blessings to become reality.

The heart must choose to forgive; I’ve found that praying for one who has hurt me helps heal my heart. Perhaps it can help yours as well. As the new year begins, I choose to search my heart and release forgiveness to all, so making a fresh start with a cleansed forgiving heart.

Would you make the same  choice?
