Twas early morning and tense with harried mind, I headed east towards town. Suddenly, the cloud covered sky began to glow. From soft pink to deep orange it continued to change its vibrant hues until the sun barely peaked over the horizon, intensifying the fiery colors. Tips of trees reflected the golden rays. Then in my spirit, I heard His soft whisper, “this ones just for you”. Wow, God's special reminder I wasn’t alone. Peace and joy began filling my spirit, and all stress simply emptied. The rest of the day was like a smoothly sailing ship easily reaching its objective. How God does love us! All the delightful things in nature are His gift to us ~ if we but notice and receive.
Seasons are a gift. I’m sure you too have remarked on how swiftly summer has flown right into Fall. Once green lined streets are blossoming into breathtaking venues of bright golds, glowing yellows, and from deep reds to more muted plum colors. Then the eye is drawn to exquisitely intense red-orange backgrounded by coniferous greens and golds, coming together in lovely masterpieces of art. Yes, and actually, one tree with almost iridescent glowing mix of colors brought me to a complete halt. This tree was so captivating it would have been dangerous to keep driving! Its unusual and unique color schemes commanded attention. Our Supreme Artist creates vibrant vistas, close up masterpieces, special works of art for us. He loves doing this ~ astounding us with beauty! Praise Him for His glorious love!
Autumn is my is favorite! Weather cools, jackets required. Some leaves have fallen to transform sidewalks and streets into crunchy pathways. Out come the rakes to clear the green lawns and create fun piles of crunchy for kids and dogs to jump into. Walks in the woods bring smiles as feet scrape through the leaves kicking out as we walk. There's a special aroma to Fall also. When I was a kid, it was burning leaves ~ a very special mesmerizing scent. Smoke still curls up from chimneys as fireplaces bring warmth and cheer to homes. Special memories.
Autumn always takes me home ~ the place where we grew up. Parents are both moved into eternity now, yet they come alive again as pleasant scents of Mom’s cooking fill my imagination, and there’s dad kneeling before the fireplace crunching up paper preparing a fire. Later the family will sit down at the table for dinner and enjoy conversation about our days.
More than any other season Autumn brings me “home”.
How does this season affect you?
