God's Secret Surprises

Was delighted and amazed again at Your ingenuity Lord! I found a sale by a rock hound~ one who finds and collects and sells rocks. Some ‘rocks’ are such a surprise ~ like geodes which are rather plain and ordinary on the outside, but cut them in half and “voila!” a small cave of sparkling gems may be revealed. Then there are rocks that are dinosaur dung from what, millions of years ago? Polish it up and you’ll be surprised at its beauty:)) It's a combination of "wow" and "yuck". There must be thousands of different rocks that when cut and polished can rightly be called jewels of the earth. Yet their outer covering is very nondescript.

Isn’t that like people? Some are quite plain and not considered beautiful on the outside, but the heart of God lives in them and their inner beauty is radiant! Surely you know some like this? Take Mother Theresa for example, her exterior was not considered lovely, but the heart of God’s love beat in her and she is renowned throughout the world.

Our world is populated with men and women, boys and girls living with God’s beauty residing quietly within them, but their outside is not seen as handsome or beautiful. They are often picked on as kids and left feeling lonely and unloved. Rachel Scott, a pretty  and popular teen age girl, sought out the unpopular, the teased, those picked on in her high school and befriended them. Today Rachel’s Challenge is an organization teaching youth how to see this principle. The “beautiful people” can be taught how to be lovely inside AND out; the shy and introverted can be brought out to recognize the attraction and splendor of God's love that lives in them and can being them joy. [Rachel was the first child murdered at Columbine.]

Delight in sharing love and joy when Holy Spirit opens your eyes to see a child of God (of any age), who doesn’t recognize their own inner allure and value. Seek out the nondescript, or those with sadness in the eyes; give away a smile of warmth and discover the sparkling gem of joy awakened in their countenance. Be captivated by the joy that comes from sharing God’s love emanating from Jesus living in you. A surprise awaits you!
