Deep. The deep. Deepest ocean. Searching for You, my God! Can you not feel a pulling from deep within yourself? Oh God, a magnet is pulling us to You; and You are not found skipping on waves, but in the far down deep currents.
Peter walked on the water; we too are sometimes called to have water walking faith. Nothing is impossible with God, and when Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on the water. Then he allowed himself to be distracted by the waves and the wind, took his eyes off Jesus, and began to sink.
The enemy will also try to distract us from going to You wholeheartedly; he uses lies ~ “you can’t walk on water” “you can’t get rid of this disease, it always kills people as weak as you” “your baby is deformed, imperfect, it will have a life of tragedy and pain.” “this emotional pain is too much, just kill yourself and get rid of it” “God is good He could never love someone as bad as you” “you’ll never get out of this debt, you’ll be homeless with no food to eat”. Listening to lies that entrap us bring discouragement and sometimes worse. Lift eyes to God and His Word to be pulled out of the enemy traps. [see below]
Going into the depths of the ocean we find God His majesty and His love:
Psalm 18:16-19 (MSG)
But me he caught—reached all the way
from sky to sea; He pulled me out of that ocean of hate,
that enemy chaos, the void in which I was drowning.
They hit me when I was down, but God stuck by me.
He stood me up on a wide-open field;
I stood there saved—surprised to be loved!
Psalm 77:16-19 (MSG)
Ocean saw you in action, God, saw you and
trembled with fear;
Deep Ocean was scared to death.
Clouds belched buckets of rain, Sky exploded with thunder, your arrows flashing this way and that.
From Whirlwind came your thundering voice,
Lightning exposed the world,
Earth reeled and rocked.
You strode right through Ocean,
walked straight through roaring Ocean,
but nobody saw you come or go.
God is so huge and His love is so immense that we can only get a tip of the tongue taste of Him. He created the universes and put all things in motion. He created us causing our bodies to function in miraculous ways! Atoms and molecules so small yet performing functions that keep us alive. It is His design; that truth is so immense, one can only understand a fraction of it. His love is so incredible; He sent Jesus, His Son, to suffer cruelty and painful death to save us from eternal suffering in hell. Jesus agreed to go through that agony, because He loves us. What greater gift could love give?
Deep. Within ourselves is a depth deeper than the ocean. Our spirit communes with God, spirit to spirit; we must worship God in spirit and truth~ the truly 'who we are' as in John 3:5-7, Romans 8:15-16 [MSG], and these:
Romans 8:15-17 (MSG)
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who He is, and we know who we are: Father and children.
John 4:24 (AMP)
God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).
“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before Him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits,
their true selves, in adoration.”
We are spirits who live in a body and have a soul.
[More detail on this is found in Cast Up A Highway in Chapter 8.]
As a spirit we have a deep desire to communicate with another spirit; it is critical that we find the Spirit of God. Some fall into the pit of believing evil spirits are fun to communicate with ~ magic, satanism, horoscopes. But those who find truth, find God as the Spirit who helps them all the way through life to live as a joyous people.
He leads us in the ways of truth to discover our purpose in life and the gifts we've been given to fulfill it.
Let us daily seek God, and build deeper intimacy with Him. As we move deeper into our relationship with God, our spirit will rise stronger and more triumphant in our life journey.
