Father, because of You, my back is no longer slumped over in tired melancholy. Seems recently when I allow myself to get tired, a sinkhole will open beneath my emotions and they fall in. This is a new attack, not one that always was there. So I go before my Father and ask for His help. I recall David seemed to have an attacking spirit also:
Psalm 42 :5 Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, my Help and my God. David talks to himself~and calls for help.
Father, an answer for every need is found in Your Word! Father, Psalm 42 verse 8 promises: Yet the Lord will command His loving-kindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, a prayer to the God of my life. Here is God's promises of loving-kindness by day and at night His song will be with
me. Day and night You have me covered Lord!”
And then verse 11 speaks with firm direction: 11 Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.
So in these times of emotional turmoil,I can trust my God to plant a Scripture in my mind that will firmly rout out this intruder who slips in unnoticed. This morning my Father reminds me of Nehemiah:
Nehemiah 8:10 ...And be not grieved and depressed,
for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.
We know in John 15 Jesus promises to give us HIS JOY FULL AND OVERFLOWING! So we can claim His joy, when we qualify for it by following His commands. Now whenever the enemy tries again to attack me with any sinkholes in my emotions, I shall cry out, “Jesus, I claim Your joy, for the joy of the Lord is my strength!"
Now that I recognize the enemy and have the authority, I shall order it out of my mind and emotions! As David conquered Goliath, so shall it be with me. I invite the Word of the Lord in, as I claim Jesus' joy and the promise that my God is with me day and night! And I sing praises to the God of my life, to my Redeemer Jesus, and to the indwelling Holy Spirit!
