Pruning Hurts, But. . .

Golden daffodils fill the mound as deep purple lilacs surround them. . . Gardens light up the beauty in all of us. Knowing this, God in His infinite wisdom, calls Himself the Gardener ~ and we are His garden. As for me, I like the loveliness and bright color aspects of being the garden, and am delighted by the watering of the Word, but am not so fond of the pruning aspects. Ouch!

Yes, the mighty Gardener's work in us may cause pain, but it’s all good. For to prune away dead stuff allows more light to come in to our growing fruit-producing inner parts. Oh Lord, You know best, and we trust in You to always know what we need.

Job 8:8-19 MSG . . . So why not let the ancients teach you, tell you what’s what,
instruct you in what they knew from experience?
Can mighty pine trees grow tall without soil?
Can luscious tomatoes flourish without water?
Blossoming flowers look great before they’re cut or picked,
but without soil or water they wither more quickly than grass.

As I was reading through Job, I came across this next Scripture. It makes me sad to watch how many people are being deluded in this day by the enemy’s lies! They are being duped into denying God and His commandments, being deceived into misinterpretation of His Word and Who He is. "Lord, You are our Father and You made a way at the cost of Your Son’s sacrifice for us to be freed from the punishment of our sins. We can be washed clean, be reborn as Your children. But if we refuse Your magnificent gift, denying You, we pay an awful price."
Job 8:8-19 MSG That’s what happens to all who forget God—
all their hopes come to nothing.
They hang their life from one thin thread,
they hitch their fate to a spider web.
One jiggle and the thread breaks,
one jab and the web collapses.

Or they’re like weeds springing up in the sunshine,

invading the garden,
 Spreading everywhere, overtaking the flowers,
getting a foothold even in the rocks.

when the gardener rips them out by the roots,
the garden doesn’t miss them one bit.

Father, we ask for mercy. Please have mercy on this Your country. We have fallen from a nation that was founded on Your principles, that honored You, to a country that is now trying to deny You. We beg You for mercy Lord! Raise up mighty men like David and strong women like Esther who can help return us to You! Father, we are Your children; help us know what each of us can do to reach the hearts of those around us. Put Your Word in our mouths to pray. Let us be mighty warriors lifting powerful hands of prayer to You!
