Picture yourself speaking:
My God, You are my God. Yes, MY God. My personal God. Yes, You have other kids, lots of them. But I am special to You. You made me unique, so only I can please You in the special ways You put in me. You gave me a gift to help Your other kids get to know You on this singular level. You speak to me and tell me You love me and invite me into Your throne room to sit on Your lap like a precious child, Daddy, and get a hug whenever I need it. Despite all the other concerns of the world You take time just for me. I love You, Daddy God!
In all the world there is only one me. You created me for Your own special purpose. You planned my life in a certain way. You communicate Your wishes to me and lead me in the way You choose for me to go. As I sit each day in Your Presence, You plan the time, You plan the words that flow between us, You cover me in Your love. Oh, Daddy, I always want to please You! I bow before You and worship You! You are God and You keep the whole world moving and I am confident that although things look bleak, You will bring every bit of good out of it as is possible.
Looking at how immense You are. . . You created the world, the universes, You spoke creation into being. You created earth and put it together with myriads of critters from microscopic to immense sizes in such a way that they all work together for good. You created mankind in a perfect body designed to live forever; then the evil one got involved and has done his best to mess things up and install his ugliness into whatever he can touch. But You are still Lord over all, and You give us tools to fight the enemy’s invasion of evil. Keep teaching us Lord of Lords!!
Father, in all of your creation, You made mankind the ruler. Adam abdicated the earth to Your enemy, but the second Adam, Jesus, redeemed it for us. Jesus redeemed life for us, that is true life of freedom, of understanding in a new covenant with you. . . A blood covenant.
A blood covenant was described to me in a little book. In short as I recall, it told the story of Livingston traveling thru the jungles. He became ill, and was convinced by the natives to form a covenant with the most powerful tribal leader. With qualms he agreed, and after they cut their wrists to mix the blood, Livingston gave his goat (which provided life saving milk to him) to the tribal chief. The chief gave him his staff. At first Livingston thought it was a poor trade, until he saw that any other tribe, when they saw the staff, would not harm Livingston in any way ~ would not steal from him or cheat him or harm him. In a covenant the stronger promises protection to the weaker, and the weaker can call on the stronger at anytime for help; the stronger party in a covenant MUST respond. The natives were all familiar with “covenant” and its power.
Jesus “cut a blood covenant” with us. God made a covenant with us. Do you realize how incredible that is? God put Himself in the position of being required to help us when we follow the rules of the covenant. We have covenant with Almighty God! Our relationship with God has so many aspects, it will take a lifetime to discover and enjoy them all!!
