In Scripture Jesus said His disciples need to grow up and eat meat and vegetables, not milk.
Hebrews 5:11-14 (MSG)
11-14 I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you’ve picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby’s milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God’s ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong.
This blog is meat and vegetables:
Purpose. Life purpose. It keeps us going; puts excitement and joy in our life; it requires listening to our Father and obedience. Ah, there’s that ‘obedience’ word. Hmmm. Reminds me of being a kid and having to obey. Yeah, that’s where we first learn it, and first learn to rebel against it. But we are grown up now, and it’s time to learn that obedience is God’s way to fulfillment and every success.
God is a Father, a gently loving Father. He is merciful, but He is also just, and will not accept rebellion. If we choose to rebel against Him, He may feel the need to teach us through removing His protection from around us. As we choose to rebel we will be choosing to run away from God and His protection. Yet God loves us.
I remember when our girls were little ... maybe five and three years old. They got mad at our restrictions and decided to run away. They gathered some food ~ like uncooked macaroni~ and took off down the street. Of course, dad followed them in a car. As he saw their direction, he drove ahead and 'ran into' them ‘by accident’, asked if they wanted an ice cream, and got it settled. They never decided to run away again. Their short trip showed them they did not want to really run away from home.
God is also a loving Father, and if we choose to return home to Him, His loving arms are waiting. We approach God personally on a deep heart level and ask Him for anything within His loving will and He will give it to us. The Word says,
Luke 11:10-12(AMP) For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.
11 What father among you, if his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; or if he asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
These Words are expressing the love of a parent. Our heavenly Parent wants to teach us, guide us, protect us, and love us. We choose to get close to Him, to get to truly know Him through our obedience and our trust in Him; then we can count on His loving promises. Allow the purposes He put in you and me to be lived out, for that will bring us every blessing promise we nee and want.
There is a deepness where dwells a loving spring of refreshment and renewal. Seek it with all Your heart, for it holds the promises of God. His Word is the map; begin looking for His way for you. It’s personal!
