Curtains rise on a stage and the play begins. Each actor has memorized their part and perform with fully developed knowledge of the role they are playing out, and all moves smoothly through the conclusion when each major character takes their bow.
Is life a play upon a stage? In the back of my mind is a monologue from Shakespeare: “ All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players:” If life is seen this way, then the end is already determined and the players’ roles merely rote. Ah, but in truth, is life not much more?
From the day we are born into this world we have a Father watching over us, but we decide our own ways until we choose to truly be the Father’s child. For it is our will that gives us choice, and that is the gift of our loving God ~free will. Some refuse to see how this can bring evil into the world. Unfortunately it can, for we are born with a fallen nature. Ever since Adam chose to believe satan’s lies and disobey God, the human race was born subject to the villain’s temptations. (See its black shadow form slither like tendrils of smoke across the stage?)
God, however, loves us too much to allow us to be forever subject to evil’s deceptions. From the beginning God had a plan, and Jesus agreed to this plan of salvation for us. Jesus came to earth, a God-man. The Son of God was filled with great love and His role was twofold. First, Jesus wanted to show us the character and totally loving nature of our Father. And His second major role was to bring us redemption. The stain of Adam’s betrayal of God needed to be removed, the sin debt we owed Father God paid. This was the difficult role assigned to Jesus the Christ. Through anguish and torture and painful humiliation Jesus chose to endure the cross for us. And when we choose to recognize our sin and repent of it, we are able to accept Jesus’ extraordinary gift to us.
This gift opens the curtains to a changed scene on the stage of life, enabling us to come into the Father’s presence freely and with joy. It empowers us to face down the enemy in every scene that develops. We are strengthened with Holy Spirit actually living inside of us. We walk through each part as God-indwelled characters with new purpose directing our lives, and supernatural ability to accomplish any goal the Father places in our life.
Can you see yourself in this role now for the year 2013? If you have chosen to repent of sin and accept Jesus’ salvation gift, you are supernaturally empowered to walk through the curtain onto the stage of 2013; you walk with a new God-strength empowering you to move forward knowing and following God’s will and realize your own potential with surety. You will walk fearlessly!
Such happiness and joy comes from succeeding in a God-directed life. Choose to let God be the director of your role on the stage of life. It leads to the best final scene of all! For those redeemed shall walk into the arms of Jesus to live eternity ~ forever and ever ~ in an atmosphere of pure love and joy. We cannot come close to visualizing this marvelous eternity of complete satisfaction and fulfillment, where we continue to grow and accomplish greater understandings and revelations.
All of us are major characters on life's stage, and it is our choice to bow before God or evil: our eternity depends on that choice.
