Oranges turning to red-oranges reflect in the eastern facing windows across the way. Yes, dawn is breaking upon the heavens coloring another masterpiece. It’s interesting that sunrises can be so spectacular, yet they last only a few minutes. To catch them at the peak of beauty with the most intense colors you must be there on time, or miss the show. Why did God design it this way?
Is He teaching us that it is important to be obedient to His will and timing? It would be so like Him to use this gentle way of teaching us. And we need to be sensitive to Him and get to know His ways, and then we can learn the lessons He lovingly reveals to us. Our Father cares for us so deeply; He longs to bring our hearts nearer to His; it’s like an earthly Father loving his kids, wanting to communicate his caring to them, so they will truly know and never forget how much they are loved.
Father God is our Protector shielding us from the tricks and deceptions of the enemy IF we allow it. Often children are so headstrong they want to go off and do their own thing, and that’s how we sometimes act too. But when we draw close enough to our God and see the strength and abundance of His love, we will be able to obey His will.
One very difficult command of God is forgiveness. When we have been intensely hurt by another ~ it could be a sibling, a parent, a friend, a spouse ~ forgiveness is extremely hard. Many nurse the grievance for years refusing to forgive, and the poison grows and the enemy holds it to the fire for more pain to explode at his own time for maximum damage.
Unforgiveness infects one's entire life like a demon hiding deep in the subconscious waiting to pop out like a grizzly stalking a prey. It builds a projectile of anger waiting for release; it will take on moods of resentment, shields of hardness not allowing a closeness with those around them. These reactions can even be passed down to children.
So what do you do if this is you? First, understand what forgiveness is and is not. Your forgiving does not mean absolution of the offender; that’s not your job. It does not mean you were not hurt; it does not mean you have to associate and be nice to the offender; it does not mean you weren’t treated unjustly; it does not mean they won't pay a price for their sin against you.
Forgiveness does mean you love God more than your resentment. It entails releasing your pain to Jesus. You take your pain and give it to the one who suffered so horribly for you, so your pain causing sin against the Father could be forgiven. If you doubt the hurt your sin caused God, really look at the excruciating torture Jesus had to endure to pay your sin debt.
All that Jesus asks of you is release the burden of your pain to Him. Ask Him to totally cleanse you of unforgiveness. You have allowed the enemy to torture you long enough, now throw him out with the painful memories, and be cleansed. Speak the words to God “I forgive ___________. I release the hurt, the painful memories, and my resentment to You, Father. Help me be totally free now.” Hold nothing back! Anything held back will continue to torture you and affect your life negatively. If the enemy brings up a new memory, immediately give it to Jesus ~ release the enemy’s hold on you completely! There may come a time when God asks you to forgive the offender to their face; if He does, he’ll give you the ability to do it. Be not afraid. Be Free!!!
Forgiveness is God’s command. Remember the “Our Father” prayer. . . 'forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE TRESPASSED AGAINST US'? We must forgive to be forgiven. It is an emotional issue; do not be ruled by emotions! Be ruled by the word of God, because His rule is all for our good. He commands it, because He knows the destruction unforgiveness causes to us and to the ones we love. Trust God!
