How amazing is this God of ours! He loves us, His children, so much! Jesus came to save us from an eternity in hell, yes! But He also came to form a relationship with us, to teach us Who His Father is and that we can grow in understanding of His Father and His character. We are blessed beyond belief with a God Who is magnificent Creator, Masterful Protector, all Powerful, and all Loving!
This amazing Lord desires to have relationship with us. Does this reach into your soul and touch you? Great as He is, we humans (seemingly insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe) are precious treasures to this monumental awe-inspiring God! Unfortunately, it is difficult for some of us suspicious, untrusting humans to conceive of this - that God Almighty wants to use His loving power to bring goodness into our lives, but it is true.
1 John tells us that we can grow in our understanding of this One true God; we can know Him - truly know Him! We are able to live in fellowship with Him.
1 John 5:20 And we [have seen and] know [positively] that the Son of God has [actually] come to this world and has given us understanding and insight [progressively] to perceive (recognize) and come to know better and more clearly Him Who is true; and we are in Him Who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
Another formidable gift of God is our protection. Our Father knows us so well, and He is aware of the enemy’s hold on this world in which we live. He knows without help we could fall victim to the schemes of the evil one. Knowing us and loving us so strongly, He provides protection from temptation and from deliberate harm from evil. He places a shield around us as we journey in this world. He has provided Holy Spirit to indwell us, so He is always within us. And further, 1 John 5: says
18 We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ’s divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him].
19 We know [positively] that we are of God, and the whole world [around us] is under the power of the evil one.
The devil cannot lay hold of us when Christ lives in us. We are scrubbed clean inside and out and Christ, the Light, shields us and fends off the corrupted darkness. Christ also strengthens us through our trials as we obey His commands. Recognizing God's work in us and His Guardianship of us, is a progressive process as we walk our journey aided by the Almighty! Who could ask for more?
We are blessed to be a blessing, and this is our call: as we grow in our understanding, we share the truth with others! Never fear. God lives within us and He will help us always to perform His commands!
