Connections: Friends. Family. God

Green! Green! Green! How lovely are the green woods full of trees! Having lived for many years in the semi-arid land of deserts and mountains, I’d forgotten about the refreshing beauty of thick woods filled with emerald plant life, lakes laying like jewels across the land, humidity that pools upon the face as sweat.

Actually on our trip there were very few really hot days; the weather was almost perfect! It was a trip to add more memories to our scrapbook of long time friends and far away family. Time can no longer be counted on to slow down, so we must take advantage of every opportunity while we still live here upon the earth. This was our joy to talk with, connect with, hug, and so appreciate people who played a part in creating wonderful memories and love weavings in our lives.

Shortly after arriving home, we encountered a land of chaos, as we faced devastating fires that were ripping apart the lives of many people here in Colorado. There are so many thoughts that emerge. We cannot count on things remaining the same. What we discovered on our journey was that some people have passed on and we will not see them again in this life, tho we hope to see them in the next. I will attend my best friend’s (from grade school/high school) 50th wedding anniversary. She may live across the country and we do not see each other a lot, but we still are inner-linked together by our shared memories. How wonderful to celebrate this great day together and add to the memory pages.

Live each day as though tomorrow will not come. . . a cliche perhaps, but one I choose to take to heart. Its like preparing a bucket list . . . really taking the time to think about what is important. Most urgent must be our relationship with God and how we are building that. He is the One all want to know well before meeting Him face to face. If that relationship is lost in the past or never developed, take time today to build or rebuild it. Cast Up A Highway is a good book for constructing/reconstructing your personal spiritual highway. Eternity is a long long time, and having that relationship will determine whether your eternity will be bright and joy filled or dark and painful.

Let your heart speak to your soul; if Holy Spirit indwells you, you have a perfect guide. Life is not a mystery, though it may hold them. Love is often a key.
