After reading 1Samuel 2:1-10 this morning, the realization of the eminence of our glorious Lord God awoke a realization in me. Our God is so awesome, I want Him to be in control of My life. I asked Him, “be in control, in command, of my life. I do not ever want to be in control, for You alone know all things. I trust You” vs. 9 He protectively cares for his faithful friends, step by step, God cares for us protectively; His word proclaims it!
As I began my quiet time with the Lord, it stirred up a quiet joy in me. I was surprised and delighted by the smile that formed upon my face. [It is the result of being in the Presence of God.] Do you enjoy His Presence as much I do? This morning was such fun! It was like being with a friend that refreshes and laughs a lot. It feels good. What surprised me was the Scripture He gave me: 1Samuel 2:6 God brings death and God brings life, brings down to the grave and raises up.
It was extraordinary because I did not feel any negative about it. His joy was there in me. It seems humans look at death as one of the biggest challenges we face in life, and to many it is the largest fear factor. It is the biggest unknown. . . what will happen? I realized to me and to most Christians it is not scary at all. Sitting in His presence this morning I look forward to being in His home. It is fun being with Him here. Why would I fear going home to be with Him in heaven?
I know I am not alone with these feelings, for any Christian who lives their life for Christ is without apprehension in thinking about death. For we know the Lord through His Word and His presence in us. We know His character through the teachings of Jesus and through the Old Testament truth revealed about Him. Read
1 Samuel 2:1-10. Hannah is in great joy and the Message Bible proclaims it this way: vs 1 Hannah prayed: I'm bursting with God-news! I'm walking on air. I'm laughing at my rivals. I'm dancing my salvation.
Then it speaks about our God: vs 2: Nothing and no one is holy like God, no rock mountain like our God. [there is no Rock like our God.NIV] This is just one of the places where God is called a “Rock”. . . strong, secure, a place to stand on, a hiding place of protection. I like how His sturdy strength is portrayed in that word.
Look how God cares for us: vs. 8 He rekindles burned-out lives with fresh hope, Restoring dignity and respect to their lives— a place in the sun! God so loves us, He wants only the best for us, and when we come to Him for help or protection, He will lift us up. When we hit upon hard times, as many are today, we can rely on our mighty God for help. vs. 9 He protectively cares for his faithful friends, step by step,
If our powerful God is taking such good care of us on earth, why would we doubt that after death He will not be waiting with joy to receive us into our new home in heaven? Now God does remind me that difficult challenges here on earth do not mean He does not love me. No one has an easy downhill ride on this earth, for without hard times, how could we grow stronger? A body builder does not grow muscles by sleeping and dreaming about a good physique; no, he works out with resistance machines and weights. Our workout is with the Word of God and trusting Him to help us when we are facing fearful challenges, like job loss, deadly illness, a sick child, etc.
As we grow stronger in our God-relationship, we learn to trust Him more. That trust builds relationship and closeness in a deep intimacy with our Lord. Then when the death knell rings, we will have joy of expectation of being welcomed home with a Godly hug! Let's rejoice in our glorious loving Lord at all times!
