If He were a mere human, God would have lost His temper with us eons ago. How amazing God is! You know He wrote a book through the hand of special men some thousands of years ago that applies to us today? You would think our Creator God knew us or something; indeed He knows everything about us from our initial creation through our final earthly moments. Even more amazing is His extraordinary love for us! The Bible relates this love:
Ephesians 2:1-6 [MSG] It wasn't so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn't know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It's a wonder God didn't lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us.
Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.
When we choose to recognize the love of Jesus and accept His gift of the painful sacrifice of His own life for us, when we ask Him to come live in our hearts choosing Him as our King, we are lifted up into His Kingdom. Our earthly life becomes kingdom living. We live under the care and protection of our King. Psalm 138:8[AMP] says, He will perfect that which concerns me.
Loving Jesus is finding hope! Jesus’ love flows to us so it can move through us. His joy fills. To be in an intimate relationship with Jesus, the Son of Almighty God, is a remarkable experience, that lifts us above fear and the concern of worldly problems, for His shield protects us from the enemy's schemes to harm us.
This bond with Jesus enables a two way conversation with Him. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, tells us, “My sheep know My voice”. It is not just us talking to Jesus; it entails us hearing His Holy Spirit speak to us as well. It is engaging in a heart-to-heart conversation with a loving Father Who wants to care for us and protect us from the evil that abounds in this world.
When Jesus left the earth, He sent Holy Spirit to indwell us ~ if we choose to accept Him, we have God within! Communication with the Almighty is through our spirit to Holy Spirit ~ spirit to Spirit. What a marvelous God we have Who arranged for Holy Spirit to open communication with His creation, His children. He so loves us truly desireing this intimacy with our hearts.
Being in His Presence is being surrounded by a fullness of love and peace and warmth.
Experiencing Him is like standing arms extended facing a mighty wind blowing hair back and almost moving our body with its force. . . the power, strength and joy of it!! It is being close to a majestic mountain straining upwards into the clouds. . . it's awe and sheer magnificence expands the soul! It is the fearful terribleness of a wildfire hungrily consuming everything in its path. It is also laying in a boat on a quiet river, gazing at myriads of stars above ~ eyes become a door for the incredible universe to enter within, lifting us from the natural to the supernatural.
Our God cannot ever be pinned down to one thing or another; He is more immense than our puny minds can apprehend. He is God. He is perfect love and perfect justice. Some people want to discount His love, because bad things like the Aurora shooting happen. They need someone to blame, so they blame God. Yet God is true to the way things were created to be. Mankind was given free will, free choice. We were created that way, and we must live with our choices and the choices of other humans.
But remember, too, life here on earth is just a small portion of our existence, for life goes on into eternity ~ never ever ending. So when we obey God’s plan for our lives and accept the great gift of His Son, the loss of earthly viability is as nothing, for we go on to enormous joy forever and ever and ever. Truly, that's a luxurious gift given by a magnificent God!
