Holy Spirit, You know how to plant Heaven’s desires in earth hearts. Teach us Your Word that we may hear and learn truth.
John 15:6 (AMP)
If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned.
Jesus, You are the vine, we are the branches; all our nourishment must come from You. You are the source of life for us. We choose to dwell in You or not, to have life or not. When we choose wrong, our life becomes dried up
and is cut off like the deadwood of the forests that burned up. The fire raged up and down those hills hungrily gulping down the beetle killed trees and anything else that stood in the way. What in our life kills us~removes us from the vine so we starve and dry up and become brittle? What choices do we make that break us away from the vine of life?
JOHN 15:7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
So Jesus, the second part here says when we live in You and Your words live in us and continue to live in our hearts, we can ask whatever and it will be done. If we choose to not have Your Word live in us, not obey the commands of Your Word, it is a choice to break off from You. But when we live vitally united to You, Your Word in our hearts binds the connection, strengthens the union as it becomes more intimate and organic. Our communications transmit directly to You and You to us. Jesus, our relationship emerges in a oneness of amazing joy!
8 When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.
Producing fruit is maturing as Jesus disciples. As he plants His word in our spirit, we do as he directs, obeying His commands. We love as Jesus loved, and with Holy Spirit indwelling us, we can love as He did. Jesus love can flow through us. Holy Spirit becomes the director of truth in our life, guiding our journey in this intimate and organic relationship with God.
Message Bible: 9-10 "I've loved you the way My Father has loved Me. Make yourselves at home in My love. If you keep My commands, you'll remain intimately at home in My love. That's what I've done—kept my Father's commands and made Myself at home in His love.
Obedience to God’s commands is the key to loving intimacy with Him. As we become deeply acquainted with the Word of God, allowing it to abide and live in our hearts, and we obey His Word, we are transformed into fruit-producing children of the vine.
