God's LifeTrain

In America people rarely take train trips. It's like a nostalgic memory, yet train trips were fun. One could rest, read, play games, enjoy the scenery, all while traveling to a distant destination. Life was slower then. A lot of life is like a train trip; we move through life arriving at various stops along the way, then moving on to the next, until we arrive at our final destination. However, the question to ponder is 'where do the tracks of MY life end up?' Realizing that eternity is a long, long never-ending time, and death will take us into eternity, what choices do we want to make on the train trip of our life?

Some people just ride the life-train oblivious to its destination. Others choose to not even look at the final stopping place, just ride on as long as they feel like it or the train crashes. Still others choose to ignore truth or refuse to believe and accept the truth offering and gift of the LIFE TRAIN OF JESUS whose tracks all end up in the eternity of heaven. Other tracks lead to everlasting suffering of Hell. Wow!! Everlasting means never ever ever ever ending. Who wants to gamble with their eternity?

I remember taking our girls on their one and only train trip. As we were seated, they excitedly went off to explore with instructions to stay together. Now they were young, and it was a safer time, and I knew they were unable to leave the train; I could walk the cars and find them when needed. I could relax and read a book. After a little while, they came scurrying back to share their adventures. They had helped a lady with some little kids and a baby and their sparkling eyes showed their delight. What a treat for them, a new experience to log into their young lives. This trip was a short one to just let them experience riding and also dining on a train. We met their Daddy a couple of hours later as we disembarked.

As we take various 'train trips' in life, we experience new aspects of life. Some trips on our journey are monumental; others are experiential. The critical decision is to stay always connected to the train tracks that end up in the eternity we want to enjoy rather than the train tracks of destruction. So, how can we know? There are many different train lines in the world, but only one will move toward the eternity that will bring everlasting joy and peace; that is the acceptance of the gift Jesus suffered and died to give us.

Thankfully, Mom and Dad had the right schedule/guide to get us on the good connection line. Their ticket to heaven called for accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives, but as a
dults, life brings choices which need to stay on the right mainline tracks. Not all our choices will be right. There are enticing tracks of temptation for which we can buy tickets. There are tickets of liberality which put us on trains that take many to destruction. But God can bless us and rescue us from those trains. In my heart I was searching for something that would fill a void in my spirit. All the side trips seem to promise it, but all substituted a fake filling, never a real fulfilling.

Then God helped us reattach to the mainline eternity truly desired. Friends invited us to come to their church where truth was taught. Here was a fulfilling of my spirit; it was like a car with a nearly empty gas tank looking for a gas station. I had found the gas station of the Holy Spirit, and opened my heart wide to receive all that my spirit could hold. Truth was taught, the Holy Word of God was poured out to hungry souls like mine. I had finally reconnected with the mainline tracks to the sought after eternity of joy and love.

Such regrets for the many wasted years! It would have been so much better raising our kids, if we knew then what we know now. Yet God is a good God, and He will fill in the missing pieces for our wonderful girls and make sure they end up on the right train.
Such peace comes with knowing you are on the right trajectory. You can sit and relax and read Your book. . .  Not literally of course!

You have a whole train to explore with many godly adventures! In my life these adventures led to classes teaching of a deeper God-place in me, where we connect in a love relationship that carries me at times into wonderment. How can this Supreme Being, this Creator of the universe, this King of Kings want a relationship with so small a creature, so imperfect, still after all these years, making mistakes? I do not know why God loves us so perfectly, only that He does.

We have the rest of our life to search and find all the secrets God has stored up for our pleasure. He rejoices over us with singing! Wow! He loves us so much!!

Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.

God has a plan and a purpose for each of our lives. Until the end of the line arrives, we continue to progress, learn, and grow. Life on the right train brings peace and more joyful experiences."
