Temptations of these times can lead us into wrong thoughts and ways, and independent spirit and pride can keep us from seeing life from God’s perspective. He so wants to bless us, but His Word must capture our hearts to get the fullest blessings.
For my life, I had missed signs that could have warned me of problems ahead, because I was not open to God’s leadership. It is sad when we get too busy with the world to submit to God as truly being the Lord of our life. Oh, the wasted times!! Thankfully we serve a patient and merciful God Who loves us despite our faults. How can we not see it?
Romans 3:21-26 (MSG) But in our time something new has been added. What Moses and the prophets witnessed to all those years has happened. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in Him. . .
25-26 God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in Him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins he had so patiently endured. This is not only clear, but it's now—this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in his rightness.
Finally, the truth grabbed my heart! God wants us to know Him intimately, for He loves us on a personal level. My Jesus is Savior in every way! I invited Jesus' Holy Spirit to come and indwell me, and began spending dedicated time each morning with God; our relationship was growing in intimacy, as God taught me about Himself. I could not wait to be with Him! Remember falling in love, and wanting to always be with the other? Eagerly, I arose early in the mornings to spend time in His presence in His Word. Journaling brought us even closer, as He spoke to me, led me, and showed me how past experiences could relate to true understanding of His Word.
And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]! Isaiah 30:18 (AMP)
He loves us so much! It is incomprehensible to our human nature how deeply our God cherishes us! That love, similar to the love of earthly parents, also entails times of testing and discipline, and through it we learn to trust. Life was never meant to be ‘easy floating on a cloud’ time. For nature requires us to battle difficulties in order to grow strong. . . like muscles in the body must be challenged before they become defined and full of strength. Our spirits, minds and wills must also be strained and stretched until we learn to trust God with the answers, the timing, the fears. My inner buttress of strength became:
Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever.
