Is Jesus Asleep in Your Boat?

These current times can be very difficult, full of storms, some of hurricane force. They try to batter us into submission and even despair. When the force of winds blast our life, how do we stand strong against them? When total financial disaster seems sure, when the sickness seems overwhelming, when the relationship seems hopeless, where can we go? How do we stand strong?

It brings to my mind the time when an exhausted Jesus got into a boat with His disciples to go to the other side of the sea, then promptly fell deeply asleep. Not long after, a ferocious storm came up. Even though they were fishermen and use to storms, this one caused fear to rise up in apostles. So it must have been quite severe!

The disciples response was to wake Jesus, because they knew He could help them, but they did not trust Him to help them when He was asleep. They knew His intent was to go to the other side, but the storm scared all thoughts out of them. They did not see the big picture of the work they were doing and who Jesus truly is. Instead, fear totally overcame them. So they woke Jesus thinking they would die if they did not, and Jesus called them ‘men of little faith’:
And they went and awakened Him, saying, Lord, rescue and preserve us! We are perishing!  And He said to them, Why are you timid and afraid, O you of little faith? Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great and wonderful calm (a perfect peaceableness).   27 And the men were stunned with bewildered wonder and marveled, saying, What kind of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!
Matthew 8:26-27 (Amplified Bible)

The apostles did not trust Jesus to protect them if He was asleep. Are we that way too? Jesus told us He would never leave us, yet how do we react in the middle of our harsh storms? Are we willing to ‘ride out the storm’ knowing we are in God’s hands and trust in Him? Or do we lack trust and panic thinking He is sleeping and we will perish?

There are many lessons in this Scripture. Care to share what it speaks to you?

Virtually all of whatever you state is supprisingly legitimate and that makes me ponder the reason why I hadn't looked at this in this light before. This piece really did turn the light on for me personally as far as this specific subject goes. But there is 1 point I am not necessarily too comfy with and while I attempt to reconcile that with the core idea of your issue, let me observe what all the rest of your readers have to point out.Very well done.

However, looked at lots of practical knowledge or perhaps willingness to discover that will safely and effectively connect with the effort. What's even more, everyone may well also choose specific canvases

Am not sure I understand the whole meaning of your comment. The effort is to discover truth; and that truth is that Jesus, the Son of God, came to teach us about His Father and to pay the sin debt Adam put on all mankind. God loves us so much He made a way for us to connect with Him on earth and in eternity. God is the supreme Artist whose canvas is a masterpiece named Jesus.
