Today is get things done at home day. Prepare for Christmas. Prepare my heart for Christmas. Let my thoughts meander back through time and see the small boy playing with a home made wooden toy. Jesus, You began life planted by God inside your mother’s womb and were born to a world of night light, a night of wonder, of angel voices. Mary lovingly wrapped You in swaddling cloth and put You to rest in a manger.Remember that night so long ago when You my God became man. Born humbly in a manger, but Kings came to honor You and angels filled the sky with song. A tiny babe come to save a world.
Jesus, You gave up everything to become like us, human. You experienced all our feelings both easy and difficult like joy, sorrow, and pain. You went through rejection, and You went through the experience of loving Your friends, yet some did not understand You.
The Bible does not tell us about Your childhood. Did You play with lots of friends? Were You good at sports? Did You and Your cousin John see much of each other growing up? You had Your own mind for sure, cause at age 12, unknown to Your parents, You stayed behind teaching the temple priests while Your parents began the journey home. They came back for You, and You learned a lesson in obedience. You came to us and learned lessons and wisdom; You grew up as we all have to do.
When your public ministry began You were fully prepared and in tune with the Father. You spent much time in prayer, so You knew the Father’s will in all matters. Jesus, thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit to guide us in prayer and in life choices; help us to be fully prepared with wisdom and decisions that completely follow the will of the Father. Jesus, thank You for choosing to become human and teach us about the Father and His great love for us. Thank you for coming to save us so we can know for certain that we shall live in eternity with You.
