Beginning to experience a brand new season. . . in my life. In some seasons the strength and beauty flow on the outside where it can be observed. . . like Spring when the gentleness of new life begins to birth forth upon the earth. . . a delicate season of quiet joy. Then in fun frolicking Summer the leaves have filled the trees to dance in the blowing wind; flowers proudly show their colorful petals; and everything happens with gusto! Winds blow, flowers show, bushes bloom forth, birds fly free each day as they seek their daily bread (or worms), the sun scorches, and white clouds run across the sky. Or sometimes startling with lightning and booming with thunder, dark rain filled clouds unleash their load upon the thirsty earth. Are you in a Spring or summer season in your life? How do you see it?
Fall is dominated by colors ~ sometimes in brilliant golden hues, sometimes in deep red, or my favorite, in a combination of the two emerging in a cheeky red-orange. Their colors decorate the earth in stand-alone beauty or in groups flaunting proud shapes and backgrounded and framed by the rich depth of evergreens. Or again you may come across contrasting colors of many hues outlined against a blue sky. Then as the season progresses, colors mellow into muted browns until the first snow or strong winds bare the branches of the trees. Autumn retires into winter where the inner work is beginning. Yes, Winter is where the strength and beauty is invisible to the eye and experienced within. Are you entering Autumn or winter season?
Winter, a season where the naked branches seem more desolate and dark as their skeletons are revealed. They seem rather sad until winter snowstorms arrive and dress the branches in sparkling gowns of crystalline white. Energy output slows and retires to the inside of the tree, where sap works to prepare it for new Spring life. Winter is basically a time of rest and inner growth gaining strength for resurrection, renewing, regrowing, and preparation for new life birthing into the Spring season once again.
Why do I have this feeling that a new season has opened its doors to me? God’s timing for my life is moving into Autumn/Winter. Bright leaves still adorn my branches, but some are turning into more mellow colors; and the move of Winter is stirring. Lord, this new season will come whether I like it or not. If it’s from You, why would I fear it? So I choose wisdom. I choose to place my life in Your hands trusting Your timing and Your teaching in this new season.
