2 Tim 4:3 For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold, And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.
Paul wrote these words many years ago and I guess mankind does not change much as today the story is often the same. We still have itching ears. There are many false teachings around for people to glum onto. Many still seek teachings that satisfy what they want to hear to give validity to the life they want to live. It is sad because God's truth brings immense satisfaction to the soul and a fullness of joy to the heart. His truth merits eternal rewards that no false teaching does. When His Word is refused as truth, one can then decide according to the soul and the flesh what they want to do, say and believe. The enemy takes joyful glee in that; he is a master at manipulating and implanting deceptive and false thoughts into unprotected minds.
Yes, the enemy does a masterful job of deceiving people and speaks satisfactory lies into their minds, just as it did with Adam and Eve. They bit, and many today take bites from the same apple. They do not trust Father God. It boils down to that. So many fears. People are afraid to entrust their lives to Him. They believe they can do a better job of living their lives than God can, if they were to give Him control. They do not know the extent of His love for us all.
Despite what Jesus did for us, because the enemy has managed to whitewash, cover it, demote it into some kind of ritual~ Jesus torture and death has become bland. If people could truly grasp the intense pain You, Jesus, were willing and did endure for us~so intense You sweat blood in the garden just thinking of it. When the pain became nearly intolerable as the whip took bites out of Your flesh, You thought of us and Your love for us kept You going. As they impaled You on the cross with those huge nails crushing bones, causing nerve endings screaming pain, You thought of us and were empowered to continue on with Your mission of salvation. As You took on all our sin, the Father had to leave You, and the devastation of that emptiness was so intense it nearly broke You entirely, but You finished the course.
Jesus did all that needed to be done to save us, to make it possible for us to enter the Lord God’s presence and receive His loving blessings and powerful revelations in this earthly life and the next one to come.
The love of God is so incredibly huge, we cannot begin to comprehend it. Yet it is in the knowing that we are able to trust. God is so magnificent, enormous and powerful and He also treasures us as His precious children. How can we not trust Him with our lives?
